Would you have gone to Hea Slart when you found out you were sent overseas if it had not been mandatory even for my five years of English at school i could not speak fluently without thinking before speaking and simply forgot a lot until i Mel my husband a . I know Many germans especially older one who said that after the War they did not have the Money time or desire to travel so they did not see the need of learning a language they would t gel to use. True Many of them regret it bul a German saying is if Little Hansi has not Learned it old Hans won t learn it  i still have not seen any German travelling to a for eign country and expecting everybody there to speak German. They sit Over books borrow records from libraries and take evening classes just for a three week vacation in the states Italy or Spain. I always hear that germans Don t like americans. This is simply not True. We Are very glad you Are Here an willing 10 fight for our country in necessary.
