Nine out of 10 parents give their Chil Dren allowances and 70 percent of them expect something in return like a clean room or a Good report card. The Survey of 961 working Mother readers found most kids started getting their allow Ance when they were about 6vi, and More than three quarters had one by age 8. Boys were asked to do More chores for their allowance than girls and More often disappointed their parents with their performance. The Survey is based on 961 responses to questionnaires placed in the july Issue of working Mother which has a circulation of 550,000. Seventy three percent of the parents who responded were mar ried 23 percent were separated or divorced 3 percent never married and 1 percent were widowed. Those surveyed had 1,043 children Between the Ages of 5 and 16. The average income of the families surveyed was 137,600, and almost All lived in cities or suburbs. According to the census Bureau in 1984 the average american family made $29,919. Man who wanted More Homework for son loses suit Southampton . A a Man who filed suit contending his 6-year-old son was t getting enough Homework lost his Case tuesday and was ordered to pay the $975 in tuition he was with holding. Michael Sciarra of Noyak filed a $ 1,495 lawsuit con tending the private Hampton Day school breached a contract by reneging on an agreement to Supply his ton Phillip with three to four Homework assignments a week or books from which Reading assignments could retaken. The school couple sued asking that Sciarra pay $975 in unpaid tuition. The lawsuits were combined for trial. The 20-year-old school has an enrolment of 100 students whose parents pay annual tuition up to$4,100, depending on the age of the child. The boy who was in first Grade at the Bridgehampton school last year now attends Public school. Kevin Brennan director of the non profit Hampton Day school said the parents were pressing the child to read quickly. Sciarra s attorney John Jiras said the verdict in Southampton Justice court proved it s difficult to attack the Citadel of education in any form shape or  he said the jury also rejected his argument that an Oral contract was made to give More Homework to the boy who has nol been told about the lawsuit. He did t complain but he no longer wanted to read with the teachers. He did actually receive appropriate  the father said that since his son began attending Public school he s getting Homework every night and he s doing great with it
