But what generation Ever made the world it had to i Ive in we claim to be the most humanitarian most progressive nation in the world. But is i Progress or humanitarianism to spend More than a trillion dollars on bombs and missiles that can Kilt everyone in the world 14 times this is the age of the big Ripoff the uncommitted and the undressed. The blurring of the is. Some tear we arc heading toward social decay going he Way of the romans and babylonians. Others applaud the new morality and stare Down the squares with Cypei like hypodermic Needles. The cases mentioned seem to me of the sort where an individual s rights infringed on the rights of society As a whole. If More than so percent of the drunk driving accidents Are caused by people under a certain age if More than to percent of the Accident fatalities involve people who Don t Wear seat belts if taking cer Tain drugs is illegal and costs our society countless Dollan in productivity and jeopardizes the safety of others especially in the military then Why not have Laws that attempt to improve our Tot with every right or Freedom there comes responsibility. Unfortunately it seems to me that today the rights of some individuals Are safeguarded at the expense of society. If there in t an outcry from the american Public telling our government to Back off on the Laws mentioned above it s probably because there s some support for those Laws. . I for one Don t care if you smoke however i do care if you smoke next to me in the Burger bar while i m eating lunch so 1 disagree with the Teller writer. I think it apology is owed to those manipulative and uncaring politicians who have no concern for individuals rights u they were called whoever they Are. Those lawmakers have the sense to realize that society need t suffer because of the rights of individuals any More than an individual should be stifled in i natural rights by the society he lives in. To suggest that recent trends have stepped Over the Bounds of democracy into communism and socialism is senseless.
