You Are probably the pest s idea of it real a wonderful family you must have for him to want to be a part of it. More about the friends of animals 1 would like to thank the stars and stripes and Joseph Owen for the interview and the article done about our organization Csc friends of animals. You have been 10 kind to give us space and exposure and we Are very grateful for that. 1 know it is greedy to ask for More yet i need to add some Points most important for us and the animals we Are trying to help it was mated that we have 37 members when counting them off our list this is indeed the Case. However it must be pointed out that Only five of those members Are actually actively involved in the work. By involved i mean 24 hours week Days weekend and Holiday As Well. We desperately need More Active members since we Are close to the Point when Ani Mals will be left without help because we cannot manage any More with our very limited resources. Second a mention must be made of the paper work legwork and the countless phone Call involved with a cruelty Case involving a military member. While the military has hundreds of regulations Ani Mal abuse neglect and abandonment Are often handled most casually and frequently swept under he Rug. Every German shelter has a substantial number of animals that once belonged to Servic members. Many of them Are sick abused and emotionally crippled. German shelters do not perform Elhana Sia therefore their exp pics Are immense. While Ger Man communities subsidize the shelters there is not a red cent received for All the throwaways from our american Community. Needless to say German american relations Are somewhat strained where animals Are concerned. Our organization has for Many years tried hard to smooth things Over a bit helping actively at the Shel ters and if possible making food and Money donations. It is sad that the military will not realize the prob Lem and if not helping the shelters at least help us in our work by acting swiftly in animal abuse cases. Third and maybe from our statement most important it has to be said that we do not do this work because we arc bored and frustrated with our lives. We All hold full Lime jobs and have our own pets und families. The animal work we Are doing is Seldom enjoyable holds no tangible rewards for us and is frequently quite ugly and discouraging. We Sec things to which other people close their eyes we try to heal that which other people injured and we pick up that which other people thoughtlessly and cruelly threw away. Albert Schweitzer said i have always held firmly to the belief that each one of us can do something to bring some portion of misery to an i suppose this belief is the reason we keep on doing what we do. Would t it be wonderful if this sentiment were contagious Nina 1. Berth Gumc friends of animals ludwigs Burg Germany cafes employment policies discussed 1 have changed jobs a number of times due to pcs moves. We have three children and i must supple ment my husband e e-6 pay. I was Lucky when i got a full Lime Job with cafes but now they rarely have full Tim jobs available just intermittent jobs 2-34 hours no sick leave and no vacation. The local nationals on the other hand have a work Council a representative member located in the facility to see they work according to the contract no Les than five noun compared to two hours for . Employees double time Tor sundays compared to 2s per cent differential for . Employees and then Only i they Are full time. Local nationals work 38.5 hours and get paid for 40. Who is Here to represent us not the equal employ ment officer we have one but he s not really effective. There should be someone to represent us. We family members sacrifice a lot of times. A lot of us Are willing to work but can t under Tunc conditions. If you have children it s almost impossible to work and pay out to a Sitter under cafes s new system it s hard not to feel bitter. By the Way 1 love Ger Many. It s been a lot of fun except the Job experience. Last week five people resigned due to distrust the management four . And one in.
