Michael Spears How do such things As overseas tour extensions accompanied or unaccompanied Tours or being a single Soldier affect troop morale and readiness is the army meeting the soldiers needs in these areas i Hope we won t need anymore overseas Lour extensions but. Even if we do it s not the extensions that upset soldiers it s the not knowing How that Extension will affect them. They Don t know until the last minute. If you Tell them up front they can Deal with it. But. When you Don to they Don t know what to do with their family school Etc. Soldiers can and will accept things if they Are not played with " command sgt maj Karen Erickson a Soldier with his family is a More satisfied Soldier and will perform belter a Good Soldier with a Good Home life will come to work in the morning and do just about anything for you i Don t think we can afford to take the families out of Europe we be got too much invested in them living quarters commissaries exchanges clubs Etc " comma. I sol maj Roberto Rivera you know the soldiers in the Barracks belong just like the soldiers and their families belong but. Cos need to walk through the Barracks on the weekend they need to go in and sit Down and see what their soldiers Are doing and make sure All the things they deserve Are there and the two most important elements Are a clean and Safe place to live " command sol. They re restricted those living in the Barracks in that they can t have someone spend the night with them they Don t have All the freedoms those living on the Economy have. There Are double standards but i think most soldiers understand there has to be a difference in Barracks living. We Don t run a halal. It s Community  command sgt. Maj. Karen Erickson the Ideal situation is to have soldiers with no strings attached. But family is a reality in today s military society. In the past ten years the army has coped with families very  command sol. Maj. Robert Farmer com James b. Married we Are building and renovating Barracks for single soldiers and getting new furniture in. We re working on a total package that will make sure the single Soldier is taken care of at the same time As the military  command sgt. Maj. James b Craft everybody s being treated equal. The emphasis on the family could in ways make the single Soldier feel left out. It just depends on the Frame of mind of the  Pic. Raymond e. Married one Chad when i received orders for Germany i was told i could not have concurrent travel for my daughter i called my congressman he called my commander and three Days alter thai i had concurrent travel i would just miss her too much i would be Able to do my of but it would cause emotional problems. I d be depressed " spec 4 Lorraine m Jackson having the family members Here gives the Soldier a lot of moral support i find i m alone a lot.
