Although it May seem a Little sad at least it s a Story of an experience in he s More than i can Tell this year. 1 Haven t been Hunting even once yet. So i relate Andy s account of this year s Hunting wishing i could have Al least gotten As far As he did. He writes not Only Are baseball and Tennis games be ingrained out this year Roebuck Hunts arc also having similar problems. The last Lime i saw such Weatherwas in Vietnam where one expects Monsoon rain. I have hunted off and on during Tours Here i Germany since gelling my Hunting License in 1956. This year has been one of the wettest years Ever. Many Hunters have hunted ducks in Rainy weather with some Success. Hunting Roebuck in Bavaria in Monsoon Type weather is a different Story. A Rainy bavarian Hunt was my eighth Hunt of the year in the Donau Valley about 40 Miles from Augsburg. It had rained All Day. I kept hoping it would setup before the evening was Over but this was Only Mark Swearengen optimistic thinking. The High scat where i was to spend a very wet evening was located Al the Edge of a Forest Overlook ing a Large Meadow. The forester assured me the oldest Buck in his area visited the Meadow very late in the evening arriving in dim Light around 9 15 . Or later. He stated the old Buck would make his appearance 10 the right of the High Seal never to the left. He wished me Waldman Shtil Hunter s Luck and departed to the comforts of his Home. Moderate to heavy rain continued 10 fall. Around 8 . Inc first Deer appeared in the Meadow. It was a Young Buck. He was a Gabler four Pointer about two years old. He was followed soon by several females with fawns. Their appearance made inc hum interesting As 1 watched inc Young ones scamper about in the High wet grass. An hour later another Buck appeared a Young six Pointer with great potential. A few minutes later to my right. 1 observed a Deer coming out of the Forest. A Quick look with my glasses identified it to be another female with one Fawn. About 10 minutes later another Deer came out slowly to my right causing my heart to jump. I was sure the old Monarch had finally arrived. But no such Luck. It was also a female. Within a few minutes the rain was like a Monsoon downpour causing All sensible creatures to take cover in the Forest. The heavy rain continued. Soon it was Loo dark to shoot terminating another wet. Unproductive Hunt. I went Home empty handed but it had been thanks for the rain soaked Story Andy. I Hope before the season ends i la at least have a Story one of my own. H Aidman Sheil.
