The Mcaa set a record in this year s tournament with payments of ,056,027 for each final four team and a minimum of $211,205 to the 32 first round los ers. Bork said about j3.s million will go to he major conferences in each of the next three years for the drug officiating and compliance programs. The 30conferences with automatic qualification to the men s tournament will receive about $90,000 a year and he 18 with automatic qualification to he women s tournament will get about $30,000," Bork said. Bork said television Money will pay 100 percent of the Premium on the catastrophic injury insurance for division i men s and women s basketball players and 50 percent for other division i athletes. The Mcaa does not presently have a catastrophic insurance plan. A Dollar figure would be about $1.4 million for the entire program Bork said the specific figures and details of everything will be compiled and distributed to the schools later. The executive committee also approved $420,00 to increase he number of Post graduate scholarships the Mcaa offers and $309,000 to fund 18 youth Educa Tion in sports clinics. Bork said the committee also voted to establish a National collegiate foundation for charitable Pur poses whose funding will be Laid out in detail at a later Date. The executive committee sidestepped the touch Issue of whether teams should be declared ineligible for Post season play if athletes lest positive for drugs.
