Kennedy s casket in 1963. Bird a major in the infantry returned Home from Vietnam after being shot in the head in 1967 and died of Hose injuries 17 years later he had visited the Vietnam memorial four years ago ill and in pain and he knew when death approached said his widow. He had volunteered for Vietnam duly after serving in the ceremonial old guard infantry unit at fort Myrva where he was assigned As duly officer in charge of the join service casket team that carried and accompanied Kennedy s body during services in Washington after the president was assassinated in 1963, it was a great Honor said Bird s widow. Annette b. Bird of Wichita kan., who attended ceremonies at the memorial wednesday dedicating the additional names on the Wall. Mecham said he wants to hold every Chart every graph every piece of paper up to Public inspection which is what we Are working to do right  no such loan is reported on any of Mecham s per Sonal or Campaign financial records filed with the Secretary of state. Mecham still owes Wolfson about is 50,000 of the loan a state grand jury is expected on monday to resume its probe of the loan Mecham s financial reporting and whether the loan was tied to any gubernatorial appointments. A third Case arose this past week when Darrall a Lausch 41, of Baroda. Mich., saw his name on a isl of Michigan men killed in the War that appeared in the Detroit news task sunday in Advance of veterans Day. The name appears on the memorial with a slightly different spelling Darrell it Don t bother me Lausch said in a Telephone interview. Naturally i think a Little about it if they want to leave it it Don t  Lausch a Grain Fanner and Asphalt Plant worker was wounded twice while in Vietnam. It was on the Date of the first wound nov. 19, 1966, that army records listed him As killed in action. He suffered a shrapnel wound in the leg from a grenade but returned to combat after a few Days he was shot in the Arm the following february but re Lumen again to serve out his one year tour. Lauson said he did t know of his status on military records and received no veterans benefits. I wonder who got the life insurance he joked. Kittleman said the names of Budker and Craig were being removed from the next edition of the official directory of Vietnam War dead. He said Lausch would be removed if he error is confirmed by the army. But he said the names can t be filled in or buffed out without risk to the polished Black Granite panels.
