Prost Mclaren win again be caste let France a Alain Prost returned Home to capture the French grand prix sunday and extend the Mclaren Honda domination in formula one races this year. Prost took his 32nd grand prix Vic tory by beating his teammate Ayrton Senna of Brazil by 31.752 seconds. It was another one two finish for the Mclaren hondas their fifth in seven races this year with Prost winning four. The first grand prix Victory of Prost s career came in 1981 at the French grand prix but it was held at a differ ent track in Dijon. On sunday at the Paul Ricard Cir Cuit in Southern France Prost toured 80 laps in 1 hour 37 minutes 37.328seconds. He averaged 126.496 Mph Over the 2.369-mile track. He took the Lead on the 61st Lap with a daring move on the inside of a curve As he and Senna were lapping  car was blocking the Way and he Senna went wide. I was a Little quicker and braked very late Prost said. It was a Good move and he came through Senna said. Pierluigi Martini s car was being overtaken by Senna when Martini was slow in getting out of the Way of the faster cars. Martini unfortunately did t do a Good Job there because when you Are one or two laps behind you should make life easier for the cars behind you Senna said. Prost went into the Lead an stretched it gradually to 2.6 seconds after 73 laps. Then Senna eased up after encountering gear Box problems and lost More time until he was More than a half minute behind at the end. At the Start Prost was in the pol position and held the Lead for 36 laps. But Senna took Over after the tire changes when Prost s pit Stop took a Little longer. We had problems with the left wheel Prost said. I lost 3 to 4 seconds and i was a bit disappointed to lose first to Ayrton then. But i had the Opportunity to Over take him. I was a Little quicker than him and i could out Brake  he and Senna waged their own per Sonal Battle Over the 80 laps never being challenged by the other  Albreto of Italy in a Ferrari was the Only other car on the same Lapof the Mclaren hondas finishing in third More than a minute behind Prost. Gerhard Berger of Austria was fourth in another Ferrari. Defending world Champion Nelson Piquet was fifth with Alessandro Nanino of Italy sixth. Nannini s Benetton Ford was the first of the non Turbo cars to finish. The next race is in Britain this Sun Day at Silverstone marking the half Way Point of the season. The Mclaren hondas Are looking to sweep the entire schedule of 16 races. The Mclaren team won 12 races in 1984 for the All time Best. Prost lengthened his Lead in the Drivers standings. He now has 54 Points to Senna s 39. Gardner closes Gap on Lawson Franco champs Belgium a Wayne Gardner of Australia won the Soock belgian grand prix motorcycling race sunday after leading the 17-Lap event on a wet and Slippery track from Start to finish. The reigning world Champion repeated his feat of last week s dutch grand prix by fending off Eddie Lawson of the United states the current world Leader who placed second. With one grand prix left Lawson tops the world standings with 159 Points. Gardner is second with 125 Points and american Wayne Rainey is third at 117. Randy Mamola of the United states finished the belgian grand prix in third place. The race was held in intermittent rain that was too much for France s Christian Sarron. He began in pole position and challenged Gardner until he fell three quarters into the race. Sarron Rode onto a sideline to enter a slow curve when he slipped. He lost control and he and his Bike Slid into the shoulder of the track. Sarron was uninjured. Gardner covered the 17 laps in 46 minutes 55.21 seconds for an average Speed of 93.8 Mph and beat Lawson and Mamola by 20.11 and 40.78 seconds respectively. Earlier Spain s Sito Pons won the in jury marred 250cc race ahead of Switz Erland s Jacques Cornu and West Ger Many s Anton Mang. The Victory enabled Pons to move into first place in the world standings with 129 Points. Spaniard Juan car Riga who placed sixth sunday is second with 128 Points and Cornu is third with 112. The 15-Lap race on the rain slicked track before a crowd of 60,000 was halted for 30 minutes during the fourth Lap when Loris Reggiani of Italy and Martin Wimmer of West Germany collided. Both riders went to a Hospital in nearby Liege. Pons on a Honda won in 38 48.21, clocking an average Speed of nearly 100 Mph. Troche pitching for the Northern division threw Athree hit Complete game in route to a 10-4 spanking of the Southern division sunday at memory Field. Troche s pitching performance was t what North Ern coach Henry Velez of Giessen expected. Four out of the five Northern division teams played saturday and their main pitchers pitched said Velez referring to Mannheim s Bill Dickman who tossed 12 innings of Ball against ram Stem an Mainz s Rees Berry who chucked a game against Darmstadt. The southerners were comprised of players from Bamberg Nurnberg Stuttgart and bad Tolz. The northerners made up of players from Mann Heim Darmstadt Mainz ram Stem and Giessen Bat Ted first. Martel struck out Giessen s Jerry Britton to Start the game seeming to Back up his comment that Good pitching always wipes out  but he surrendered two straight singles then dug deeper whole by beaning Giessen s Norberto Soto to Load the bases. He survived the inning by getting an other strikeout and a ground out. Ramstein had their own first inning jitters. Troche walked Lead off Man will Dejesus of a Firnberg who promptly stole second base. Troche tried to pick Dejesus off second base and threw a line drive to Center Field. Dejesus scored. Troche Settle Down and got the next three batters to end the inning. The floodgates opened for the Northern division in the third inning As the defense coughed up four error Sand the offence produced four hits for a six run burst. One big problem for the Southern division seemed to be communication Between the Ball and Nurnberg Catcher Gordon Bierschenk s Glove. He never caught anyone who throws the Ball Ashard As Martel explained Southern coach Garland Diamond of Stuttgart. Bierschenk never really caught Martel. A passed Ball Here wild pick off throw there and in came bad t61z Catcher Terry o Conner. Things could t have gone better Between troche and Mainz Catcher Osvaldo Espada. Troche and Espada played get the batters out for five innings. Then backup Catcher George Bull of Mannheim filled in the fifth and did the same. Martel gave Way to Bamberg Pitcher Frank Good win in the top of the seventh. The North welcomed Goodwin with three hits and two runs for an 8-2 Lead. The North jacked its Lead 19 10-2 in the top of the eighth with a single by Ramstein s Jeff Karth a double by Britton and two errors. In the Bottom of the ninth troche gave up two hits including a two run double to Bamberg s Roland Clark to finish with a three hitter. In the beginning of the game i said the North had better hitters than the South said Velez. Troche surprised me. He kept the hitters off balance All  Diamond disagreed. Not off balance. Out of time. I think the Southern division has stronger pitch ing. Troche had an excellent curve and Good contrasting Speed which i think maybe affected the batters timing said Diamond. Most coaches will Tell you that the South throws  Mannheim s Peter Jackson who played some Toug defense at third through eight innings and second in the last brought his Bat too. He always overpowers us at Giessen said Velez after Jackson pounded out two singles and a double and scored twice to spark the offence. Britton and Karth had two hits apiece for the North. The North finished with 12 hits seven off Martel who collected five strikeouts walked one and hit a Batter. Goodwin struck out three. Troche finished with two strikeouts and four walks
