European Stars And Stripes (Newspaper) - July 17, 1988, Darmstadt, Hesse Sunday. July 17, 1988 the stars and stripes Page 11 letters dear Ann Landers my husband and i have been together for 14 years. We Are Vic Tims of infertility. Every Day i open the newspaper and read about someone Leav ing a Newborn baby in a paper bag in an abandoned car or in a trash can. I cry my eyes out. Togo through a pregnancy and then jeopardize the life of a child is cruel thing to do especially when there Are people who desperately want to adopt. I once took a baby and Mother Home from the Hospital where i worked because they had no place to stay. She had been sleeping in a girl left the baby with me for several weeks and never even phoned to Check on him. I fell in love wit that child. I called every Agency i could think of to protect the baby from a Mother who did t want him. I got no assurances. Finally the Mother came to my door and asked forthe child. I Felt As though my son was being taken from me. It broke my heart but i knew i had to give the child up. I could t eat or sleep for three months and lost 28 pounds. My doctor put me on months later i received a Call from the police. The Mother had stabbed the Girlfriend of the baby father and was in jail. She wanted to talk to me. She told me that she had put the baby in a trash can in certain Park. I informed the police. They called Back within four hours to say they had found the child. Head cigarette Burns All Over his body and Needle Marks on his legs and buttocks. The Mother had injected him with Medicine to make him sleep because she worked was dying to take the baby but the maternal grandmother said she wanted him. The disappoint ment broke my heart. I can t eat or sleep and life does t seem Worth living. My plea is to every Mother who does not want he child. Please give him or her to a woman like me. Your child will have a Loving Home and a Chance in life an you will feel Good about yourself. California Heartbreak dear California women who Don t want or Are unable to keep their babies should Contact an adoption Agency. These Agen cies investigate carefully and screen out those who Are obsessed and desperate. They do not make Good parents. The principal goal is to find a suitable Home forthe child not to satisfy the yearning of women who can t have their own. Good Luck to you dear. Dear Ann Landers i recently married. I have asked my Mother to move my sex husband s photos from the living room to the bedroom because neither my new husband nor i enjoy looking at them. She has three 8-by-10 color photo graphs of Bill in a very Small living room. Wherever i sit i see Bill staring at me. I tried to explain in a Nice Way that i was not asking her to hate my former husband or to disassociate from him i was Only asking that she put the photos in the bedroom. She flatly refused saying that nobody was going to Tell her what to do in her own Home. I find Al this Odd because Mother was never crazy about Bill when i was married to him. Tell me Ann do i have the right to ask my Mother to put Bill s photos in another room Iowa Reader dear Reader you have the right to ask and your Mother has the right to refuse. It s her House. You say she was t crazy about your former husband i suspect she does t like this one either. Displaying the sex s photos is probably a Barb for both of you. With Freedom comes responsibility i would like to comment on a recent letter regarding news report of a publisher in Canada being convicted of publishing falsehoods about the holocaust. For the past three years i have had Little Access to Canadian newspapers or newscasts but i believe the Case you were referring to has been before the Canad an courts for a number of years. From what i can remember this person had been publishing Booklet promoting anti semitism and saying that the Holo Caust was a hoax perpetrated by the jews. He was taken to court not by the state but by a group working to keep the truths of the holocaust alive. Hews ordered by the courts to Stop spreading these false hoods and i believe the jailing stems from Contemp of a court order. It is an offence in Canada to promote or incite anti semitism or racial hatred. Yes we canadians have Freedom of speech and Freedom of the press but along with those freedoms comes responsibility. When the exercise of those freedoms hurts other people we Havethe Freedom to complain to the courts. Suppose this Man had moved to the states an started publishing booklets stating that there had been no slavery segregation or discrimination against Blac people and that it was a big lie started by them for their own purposes. Do you think everyone would idly it by and say of Well that s his Freedom to pub Lish for the past few years we have been hearing about japanese americans who were interned in Camps Dur ing the last world War. If he claimed that this did no happen but was a big hoax perpetrated by japanese cafes to test Amiga when will cafes Start Selling the Amiga 500computer system please Don t give me the excuse that the customers prefer the Apple system and that you base this preference on sales. The customers Are buying apples Only because on a regular basis that s All cafes has on hand i have been contemplating buying a computer for several months and have read several article son different systems. The Commodore Amiga 500, for about $860, offers the user an initial 512kmemory, color Monitor and mouse. The cheapest Apple the ii will provide the user 256k of Mem Ory and a color Monitor at a Cost of $980. The Amiga 500 is expandable to 9 megabytes the a Plesic is not expandable at All. The Amiga system is the product i sgt. Michael t. Lamb Grafe Wohr West German editor s note it. Col. Charlie White Public affairs officer he cafes Europe replies Amiga computers produced by Commodore do not have a measurable Market share in the unite states. Be aware also that software availability is very limited with Little High profile software offered at All. Cafes Europe has agreed to try this product in limited number of stores on a test basis. Merchan Dise is scheduled to arrive in the test stores in the next two months. Stores participating in this test Are Berlin Frankfurt Giessen Hanau Mannheim Heidelberg Baum older Ramstein Kaiserslautern Stuttgart Rhein main Haine Berg Wiesbaden Karlsruhe Augsburg Forth Schweinfurt Wurzburg and there is a demand for these computers we intend to fill that demand. Americans in order to get Money from the govern ment do you think his beliefs would go unchallenged Freedom to do your own thing in America has been taken to extremes to the Point when you arc losing your freedoms. Do you Call it being free when the elderly Are barricading themselves in their Homes for fear of being robbed of their pension checks when you Are afraid to let your children out to play unsupervised for fear of them being kidnapped or molested the Freedom to Bear arms has resulted in innocent children being gunned Down in classrooms shopper sin malls being sprayed by bullets gangs shooting each other and innocent bystanders snipers on the free ways not to mention scores of senseless multiple Mur Ders. You have Freedom of religion and expression the Why were people in a town i be forgotten the exact location ordered by a court to Stop saying a prayer before a school Ball game because of a complaint by an atheist i could go on and on about one person s Freedom of speech or religion or expression that has been curtailed because it was challenged by someone and taken through the courts. We both live in democratic Socie ties where the court and not the state or party in Power decides these issues. Your comparison of Canada to the soviet Union shows How Little you know about the invite you to visit Canada get to know something of our system and meet the people. You would soon change your mind. If or anybody else has a complaint that should Tell you that the Public in t being wife also a military member has tried to use the system and has directed problems to the postmas Ter. All that has resulted in is double talk answers As to Why the service is slow and Why the customers need scan t be met. Your statements concerning Complete mailing addresses customs forms etc., Are ludicrous. It sounds to me like your Apo has a customer education m not saying i know your Job better than you do but the customer has to be Given guidance on their responsibilities and that will make All jobs easier. You have two printed columns of complaints about your customers and they Haye been noted.
