Salinas says the fact that a majority of latin America s countries now have elected civilian governments compared to a decade ago when they were ruled mostly by rightist military regimes is a Good sign for the achievement of eco nomic integration and to the building of a real latin american  demonstrators link up to protest seals death Westerland West Germany a demonstrators formed a 24-mile-Long human Chain on the Island of Sylt sunday to protest North sea pollution and the mysterious death of thousands of seals. Under the motto let our North sea live demonstrations were also held along the Western coast of West Germany s Northern state Schleswig Holstein. A human Chain stretched from Sylt s Northern Community of list to Hornum on the Southern tip. Organizers said there were Only two interruptions of 200 Yards each in the Chain. Another theory is that the seals health was weak ened by overpopulation and they were rendered vulnerable to the fatal virus. Experts predict that the death count will Rise since there is no Way of stopping the virus from spreading. The problem first emerged in april when dead har Bor seals were found off Denmark. Since then the virus reached As far South As the Netherlands. More than 1,000 seals have died in West Germany s North sea coastal Waters alone. Experts say the seals die within two Days of being infected. Sunday s Chain was organized by the German association for the Protection of animals and other environmental groups.
