With 10 teams receiving at least one first place vote Florida state was an overwhelming Choice Over Nebraska in the associated press preseason poll with Miami being rated eighth. Florida state and Miami open the season against each other on sept. 3. The seminoles received 44 of 60 first place votes and 1,161 of a possible 1,200 Points from a nationwide panel of sports writers and sportscasters. It is the first time Florida state has Ever been ranked no. 1. Its previous High was last year s second place. Nebraska no. 6 last year received two first place votes and 952 Points.
