How can i have a name re moved from 300 shares of Stock i own As the result of a divorce the certificate is in my name and my sex wife s name. Our attorney neglected to have her sign the certificates. I Don t know where she is and naturally Don t want to look. Is there a Way a. Normally both living joint owners have to sign and have their signatures guaranteed to change the registered ownership. Ask the lawyer who handled the divorce to try to locate your sex and have her sign a Stock Power form which has the same effect As the assignment on a Stock certificate. Or the lawyer might be Able cosign for your former wife if the lawyer has her Power of attorney. Another possibility would be forthe lawyer to provide copies of the divorce settlement papers award ing sole ownership of the Stock to you. The Transfer agent might accept those papers As evidence that the 300 shares belong to you alone and that new certificates should be issued in your name. My total Cost including brokerage com Mission was $3,328. During the time i have owned this Stock i have received $1,622 of non taxable distributions labelled return of  when i sell this Stock what will be my basis Cost for tax Pur poses a. While the revision was in line wit expectations analysts said the Market focused on data within the report that suggested higher inflation. The Bank of England signalled a 1-Point increase in its base rate to 12 per cent and West Germany s Bundesbank raised its discount rate to 3.5 percent from 3 percent. France Switzerland an Austria also raised key rates. By week s end the Market had ground to a halt. The Dow Rose 6.58 Friday but the volume slowed to 89 million snares the lowest in nine  Market indicators posted mod est losses on the week. The new Yor Stock Exchange composite Index slipped 0.30 to 147.24. Standard & poor s 500-Stock Index fell 0.56 to close the week at 259.68.declines led advances 1.089-740 among the 2,164 issues traded. Wojciech Jaruzelski said saturday his communist government would undertake a self critical analysis of the problems behind the most serious wave of strike sin seven years. Politburo member Jozef Czyrek said authorities Are ready to meet Halfway striking workers who have demanded higher wages Union pluralism and legalization of Solidarity the Independent Union federation crushed in 1981. The two officials spoke at the opening saturday of a meeting of the 230-member Central committee of the communist party. The session came less than a Day after the government offered to begin dialogue with the workers possibly including Soli Darity Leader Lech Walesa. At least 12 strikes continued saturday at mines ports shipyards and factories throughout Poland but there were no reports of police attempts to dislodge striking workers. Jaruzelski denied that the party session was a direct result of the strikes.
