European Stars And Stripes (Newspaper) - October 28, 1988, Darmstadt, Hesse Friday october 28, 1988 the stars and stripes Page 25 outdoor adventures nature s splendor enhances fall Hunting this is the Best Lime of the year for Hunting. Is enjoy a total Winter Forest. I the Best Lime of the year for Hunting. Beside the fad it s the Only Lime i be been Able o Goin the past two years there Are some Good reasons for my preference for the fall Moths. It All has to do with colors sounds weather the smell of the Forest and the pleasure of being out there with no special objective like a specific animal or trophy just simply to Hunt. Early on a cold fall morning before Dawn every thing looks Gray or Black. Early Breaks of Light tend to accentuate the Gray especially if the air is mixed with ground fog typical of an Early european mom ing. Your eyes Tell you the Story in the first few min utes and you feel the temperature an other conditions with your nose. As it gets lighter you begin to pull in Marc of the Forest situations with you ears. Sounds develop and begin to fill in the picture. You hear moisture dip from the Trees. Leaves on the Trees and ground begin to Rustle branches creak. The Birds begin to lit then talk occasionally Bui seriously. They Don t sing much at this Lime of year. As More Light comes you Start to recognize greens of Many shades As you gaze across the tops of Pine thickets. Once the Sun is up everything takes on a new Mark Swearengen appearance. Although the Trees or Clouds May shakeout the Sun the ground begins to reveal All the colors of the world. Leaves that Hove fallen sport Shade Sand spots of yellow Brown Bright red while and Green. And the grass also has its Many colors. Some times you need to look closely to Sec All of this but it s there. As the air begins to warm the leaves and mos give off a fragrance unique to the wilderness. You know you re outdoors. Then you hear the Light mysterious , hit lock creak. Slowly you look around think ing a Deer May be approaching. You Sec nothing. Or you discover that the sound came Only from a Squir Rel or a Misc a Small Bird about the size of a 50 a Cal piece. Cold Damp weather make the Hunting even More fun. It s simply one More Clement 1 thai makes those hours in the Woods extraordinary. The ultimate pleasure comes after heavy Snow and you get to Enjo total r Forest. When Hunting at this Lime of year the most important thing is whether you see something. And yes now and then you see wild game. That s the Glass and spotting scope there s plenty of time to study the animals you see. Roe Deer Are extremely pretty during late fall and Winter. Sometimes deter mining whether a single female Roe is a yearling Oran adult can be a Challenge. This distinction is often necessary depending on the game Harvest plan and what you intend to snoot or not shoot. I be gone through november and december without shooting anything. But it has never mattered because the hours in the outdoors were always Serene and enjoyable. Christmas in Germany is As great As it is Backhoe. I never expect to see Santa Claus in the Woods during the Christmas season. Still something always seems to be out there at that special time of year. I be Felt the Christmas spirit in every aspect of those cold december hours of Winter color in my Hunting Forest it gels better every year so i m looking Forward tothe next few weeks. Whatever the weather i Hope to enjoy it because this is my favorite Lime of year for Hunting in Europe. The Blu Blip
