Those three have either been charged or Are facing charges of dereliction of duty in the death of Lance Cpl. Jason j. Rother 19, of Minneapolis. Rother platoon Leader and company commander also have been relieved of their duties and reprimanded. Based upon additional recommendations made bythe investigating officer. The commanding general of the 2nd Marine division has been directed to re View the report and take appropriate action with re Spect to the battalion commander and the battalion executive officer of Rother s unit the 3rd battalion 2nd Marine regiment of the 2nd Marine division the Headquarters statement said monday. Gen. Gray stated that he would not accept wasting lives in so called training accidents " the statement said. Quoting Gray the statement continued Rother death was not an Accident. Accidents happen.
