At the Midway Point the Nissan led the Field by More than 30 seconds. It was a Gallant Effort by the new Nissan team but a lengthy Pilston at the two thirds mar closed the Gap. Bailey still held a slight Edge when he had to Back off and conserve fuel and from that time on his race was Over. The Nissan eventually ran out of Gas while running slowly in fourth place with four laps Togo.
