A at a funeral for slain Black Panther co founder Hucy Newton friends called his death a Clarion Call to free Black communities of drug related violence and mourners chanted free  a reminder of an earlier period of Militancy. Members of Newton s family friends and fellow radicals recalled the Days when the Black panthers espoused the cause of Black liberation and the Power of the gun against White authority. Newton and scale founded the Black Panther party in Oakland in 1966. The Black panthers embraced maoist political theory and espoused the use of arms for defense against police whom they called racist.
