Another term i Don t like is the lower enlisted. It sounds As if we be adopted some sort of caste social climber system for distinguishing the privileged from the underlings. I do not use this term. I feel it is degrading to the troops. They deserve to be addressed with More respect. I fault ourselves in today s military. How Many times in your army Day do you hear soldiers referred to by Only their pay Grade it is my firm belief that doing so takes away a lot of meaning behind that per son s rank. How faceless and generic it is to refer to someone As e-7,0-3, e-4,0-6. The titles sergeant first class Captain specialist colonel All command respect and tradition. Psychologists Tell us that the erosion of language can Lead to the debasement of a culture. The military does in fact have a culture of its own. All of us who Are leaders know that the manner in which we speak and the Powers of suggestion and word Choice affect How we motivate the behaviour of soldiers. Let us pay attention and use the Correct titles of soldiers rank to identify them. Let us not forget that this is the year of the non commissioned officer not the year of the e-5 through e-9.
