Most states set the Legal limit for driving an automobile at the More lenient level of 0.1 percent although driving limits arc somewhat lower in some states. Northwest said it dismissed the men for violating company rules including one that prohibits flight Crews from drinking up to 12 hours before a flight. The pilots were grounded by Northwest immediately after the episode. Northwest said that a second set of blood tests taken by the company a were consistent with the Faass findings which indicated blood alcohol Levels in All three exceeded 0.04  the company declined to disclose the specific results of those tests which were taken late on the morning of the incident after the Crew was released by police in Minnesota.
