The physicians committee for responsible Medicine said 800 to 1,000 goats a year were being shot in the legs at fort Sam Houston in san Antonio until the moratorium. The practice however continues at fort Bragg and As Many As 1,200 goats Are involved the organization said. Or. Neal d. Barnard a psychiatrist and president of the committee said he believes the army decided to use goats because a no one would care about an animal with an unpopular face not a cute and cuddly face. Apr youths overturned patrol cars smashed windows and looted stores in a violent protest Over the slaying of a Black teen Ager by a White police officer. At least five people were injured. About 1,000 people had rallied peacefully wednesday night demanding that a special prosecutor investigate the killing of 15-year-old Phillip panned. The boy was shot tuesday evening after he was questioned at a Park by two officers responding to a report of a teen Ager pulling a gun. Pannlll died of a gunshot wound that entered his Back the Bergen county medical examiner said. Police said Pannlll had a gun but his friends denied it and said the killing was racially motivated. Police wearing riot helmets milled around a liquor store with smashed windows to keep people from entering. Police said they arrested a 17-year-old youth. Two police officers and two other people a woman and a Man were treated for minor injuries and released from a Hospital a nurse said. A photographer from the Black Star photo Agency was attacked by a gang and was helped into an ambulance with a bloody nose. Most of the protesters had dispersed by about 11 . Teaneck police called in reinforcements from the state police and Law enforcement officers from Bergen county and at least five surrounding towns. Teaneck an affluent Community of 37,000, is not far from the George Washington Bridge linking Northern new Jersey and Manhattan. The town which has prided itself on its racial and ethnic diversity is 64 percent White and 24 percent Black.
