European Stars and Stripes (Newspaper) - June 11, 1990, Darmstadt, Hesse The stars and Stripe Sann Landers dear Ann Landers i saw myself in your column the other Day. It was the letter from a Man who had the same problem i lived with for .38 years a wife who did no to think sex was Worth the trouble. The Man had written a letter to his wife on their 32nd wedding anniversary. He was starved for affection and pleaded with her to talk to him about it. The wife did not respond. She died two Days water of a heart attack at the age of 54. He found his letter in the pocket of her Bathrobe. He closed his letter to you by saying he was feeling guilty and looking for guidance. I want to Tell that poor Guy that he has nothing to feel guilty about. There is no Way you can get a woman to discuss a problem if she does no to want to. I was married to exactly the same kind. My wife was cold and unresponsive. She hated sex. She knew i was unhappy but refused to go for counselling because a the problem is yours not on my 62nd birthday she gave me the Best gift imaginable a sponge cake no frosting. In the Hole of the cake was a rolled up piece of paper a her petition for a divorce. Eight months later i met a wonderful warm Beautiful woman whose husband had died the year before. We have a fabulous time together. Our sex life is terrific and i feel like a teen Ager. I Hope the Man who wrote to you finds a woman who appreciates him. Please Tell him i wish him All the Luck in the world. A Happy second timer in . Dear Happy thanks for sharing your Story. I loved the ending. Here a More on the subject from Calgary Alberta the Only time my wife is interested in sex is when she sees something terribly expensive beyond our Means. Then she really turns on the heat. She has three Sisters whose husbands have told me they do the same thing. Can this be something women learn from their mothers from Lakeland Fla i am writing about the Man whose wife died of a heart attack after withholding sex from him for several years. I say he is better on. Now he is free to look around without guilt for a woman who will be a Loving companion. My wife and i fought about this for More years than i care to admit. She wanted full control of every aspect of our lives and sex was no. 1 on the list. If she decided she Wasny to in the mood which was most of the time she made Damn sure i lost my desire for it too. We always ended up in a fight which would have lasted the rest of our lives if i had waited for her to make up. My wife grew up in a Home where there was no affection Between her parents and they never showed the slightest bit of affection for their children. They were the coldest Bunch i had Ever seen. I should have known what i was getting into. From san Francisco i Felt sorry for the Man whose wife lost interest in sex after years of marriage. It happened to me and i understand Why. A Friend of mine who was much More experienced in the ways of the world suggested that it might be another Man. I conceive of such a thing but decided to keep my eyes and ears open and look for clues. Well i caught her. But it was t with a Man it was with a woman. A ring a a Shell shocked in Calif. Dear Shell Page 11 letters a special 6th-graders deserve accolades this year i have had the privilege of teaching two grades kindergarten and sixth Grade. But it is my sixth Grade students who Are the subjects of this letter. In today a society when it seems to be so easy to criticize our youth i think it is important to mention the other Side of the Coin As Well. My students have worked hard this year and deserve recognition. We were very crowded during the first semester while we awaited the hiring of another teacher. The students stuck it out and worked As a team. Helping one another Cope in what could have been a very trying situation. In our classroom fighting is not allowed and put Downs Are not acceptable. Black and White students work together and race is never an Issue. During the acre army Community of excellence Competition my students volunteered to pick up train around their school and Community. This did not Stop when the Competition ended. During a Field trip some of our German neighbors approached me to compliment the students on How Well behaved they were. I know that this exemplary behaviour extends outside the classroom because Many of the students have spent the weekend in my Home. Many of my students have volunteered their free time to help younger students. They were buddies for my kindergarten class and both groups benefited from such a positive experience. One student came to the Aid of a classmate who was choking in the cafeteria. Another incident occurred where one of their classmates was being accused of something he did no to do. The entire class without exception came to his defense. My students have graduated from a . Program and in a sure they will say no to drugs. My students have read nearly 300 books since school started. We set up peer tutoring groups in the classroom. As a result of the students praising and encouraging each other 11 out of 24 students made the Honor Roll and no one will be left behind when this class moves on to Junior High. This is not to say students Are perfect Angels. We do have problems arise from time to time but when they do the students sit Down at a class meeting and calmly discuss ways to resolve the Issue. the world be a better place for All of us if nations could just sit Down shake hands and talk about it. Most of my students will move on to Hanau Middle school next year. I will miss them and remember them with fondness. But above All i wish to sincerely thank these Fine Young people for having enriched my life so completely. They Are Ashe army students of excellence. They Are a credit to themselves their families their school Community and their country. They Are tomorrows leaders. I ask the teachers at Hanau Middle school to enjoy them As i have and to treat them with love and respect. In a sending you Germany a finest. A Elaine m. That does not however make them any less offensive. The vast majority of american gun owners Are responsible Law abiding citizens who will never use a gun to commit a violent act. Federal Bureau of investigation statistics prove that Over 98 percent of the guns owned in America Are used for purely lawful purposes. Which is Why Many gun owners Are disgusted with the lies half truths and misleading a a journalism so common today. Certainly there is a problem with violent especially drug related crime in the United states. But inflammatory and irresponsible press coverage is not going to solve the problem. Only communities Law enforcement officials and a judicial system dedicated to eliminating the scourges of illegal drugs and violent criminals will solve the problem. A staff sgt. Timothy w.
