Built and operated by the company that produces the world famous Lego children s building blocks Lego land is a combination amusement Park and exhibition site. It occupies a 25-acre tract near the City of Lillund in Central Jutland. Originally conceived As an open air display of Lego sculpture the Park was the brainchild of company head Gotfred Christiansen the son of company founder Ole Christiansen. In the first year of its operation 1968, the Park attracted More than 600,000 visitors. Now the annual figure is around 1 million. Today As at its founding the Park s main attraction is the incredible array of building Bloke sculptures and miniature scenes. In addition to the statue of Liberty and mount Rushmore there Are Lego Brick attractions such As a 40-foot-High sitting Bull safari land with models of everything from elephants and zebras to flamingos and Copenhagen s Amali Enborg Palace miniature cities castles monuments and villages give children and adults a giants Eye View of scenes from around Europe. A if you have Ever sat Down with our children to build a Lego House you can appreciate the Effort that went into some of these creations. It took 1,2 million Lego blocks to create the statue of sitting Bull. The Amali Enborg Palace Model required another 900,000, and the whole Park contains 35 million. But while the Lego sculptures and models provide intriguing viewing the rides and other amusements provide More Active outlets for kids Energy. The rides include a roller coaster a merry go round a Ferris wheel a Monorail and a train. One of the More popular attractions during a recent visit appeared to be the traffic school a min Road network where youngsters 8 to 14 learn Safe driving techniques in electric cars. In Many ways Lego land is a very american amusement Park with All the usual amenities. In addition to three restaurants and its own hotel the Park has a cafe a number of kiosks and hot dog and ice Cream stands. There is also a first Aid station and the whole Complex is accessible by wheelchair. It is not Disneyland but if you Are in Denmark Lego land is a sure kid please.
