C creators Syndicate a eyeglass delay has customer wondering on april 13, 1990, i had my eyes examined at the Safe Hospital in Wiesbaden and on the same Day put in the order for two pairs of glasses one pair military and i paid $49 for the other pair with civilian frames. I was told that it would probably be six to eight weeks before i would get them since they Send the order to a lab in Pir Masens. As of july 19 i still Hadnot gotten them so i went to the Eye clinic and was told that on july 10, a tracer had been sent out but no answer had been received. A staff sergeant in the Eye clinic got on the phone and called the Pir Masens lab. The answer was that they received my order but the frames i had ordered were not in Stock. However they were on order so they had decided to wait until they came in. The sergeant asked How Long that would take. Answer one to six months. I then asked the sergeant about my order for military Type glasses and he told me it was impossible to Check them because Pir Masens keeps no control or accounting of military Type glasses. The Wiesbaden Safe Hospital keeps a log Book on both types. At this Point i want to make it very Clear that i have no complaint whatsoever with the folks at the Wiesbaden Hospital or the service they have provided. They were very Friendly apologetic and understanding. What i would like to know is Why Wasny to i notified that the frames i had ordered weren to available when the staff sergeant called he was told that the same frames with a different nose fitting were available. I said they would be acceptable so the people at Pir Masens said they would fit them and Send them to me but  say How Long it would be. So my query basically is a Why does no to Pir Masens have accountability control for military Type glasses a Why Isnit the requesting clinic notified when the requested Type Frame is not available a since in be already waited Over 14 weeks Why  Pir Masens have Given the staff sergeant a realistic delivery Date again my sincere thanks to All the people at the Safe Hospital Eye clinic. Army medical Materiel Center a Europe fabricated Standard military Issue and special order spectacle program civilian frames and lenses spectacles for Over 60 army air Force and Navy Eye clinics in support of the european and Middle East Heaters. Last year we manufactured nearly 191,000 pairs of glasses of which Over 115,000 were made in Standard military frames and mask inserts. It it tracking an order through the optical lab is Labo intensive. With More than 22,000 prescriptions processed during any Given month tight suspense management is Best exercised at the ordering facility. After an order reaches 45 to 60 Days in the Laboratory clinics Are recommended to submit tracers. With an inventory of More than 200,000 parts and pieces the right combination of Frame and lenses must come together at the right time. Since All of our special order spectacle frames arrive from the United states unpredictable delays can and do occur. Replacement stocks Are constantly in the pipeline. Depending on a vendors ability to deliver receipts could arrive tomorrow next week or next month. Unfortunately realistic delivery dates cannot always be predicted and guaranteed. We isolate the orders that Are awaiting Frame and Lens stocks and expedite their final Assembly with a maximum Effort. As a Rule we distribute a monthly a held for Stock list to the Eye clinics. These reports were suspended during the summer months because of personnel shortages and the highly volatile Zero balance activity. An up to Date list has been dispatched and effective feedback to the Eye clinics continues regularly. Delivery time to the clinics varies by location and method. Several of the clinics use courier service which provides them with same Day delivery several times a week. Mail service by the military postal service maps is provided to the rest of our clinics two to three times a week. Maps delivery times can vary from a couple Days to a week depending on the Mode and the distance. Our customer service personnel should have been Able to estimate maps delivery at about three to five Days to the Wiesbaden medical Center.
