But some employers make up the difference Between the usually lower military pay and the civilian salary when a reservist goes off to summer Camp. Q As an employer do i have to give the returning reservist his same Job a no. You must offer him a Job with the same pay rank and seniority. Q How Long do i have to hold open a Job for reservists a at least four years. It could be extended if the emergency lasts. Q do i still have insurance responsibility for my reservists a no government insurance kicks in when soldiers go on Active duty. Medical insurance for dependents is also covered by Uncle Sam. Dependents dental insurance Isnit covered by the government but continuing any such civilian program is the employers decision. Q if a reservist returns so badly disabled that he can to hold Down his previous Job do i still have to hire him a yes and offer him a Job he can perform that a close in pay rank and seniority to the one he left. Q if a reservist is called up merely to serve in the motor Pool across town and does no to go to the Middle East must i still offer him a Job later a yes. Q if the crisis that spawned the Call up ends and the reservist takes a liking to Active duty do i still have to keep a Job open a yes for As Many As four years after emergency duty is called. Q How much notice do my reservists have to give me that they re leaving a none. For strategic and Security reasons if they receive military orders they May be required to leave without telling you in Advance. Q when my reservists Are released from duty after the crisis can i require them to get right Back to work a no. They May take As Many As 90 Days of unpaid leave time if they wish. Q May i wait 90 Days before putting them Back on the payroll a no. If they want to return immediately you Are required to take them. Q what if i sell my company while the reservists Are gone a the new owner inherits the company a previous obligations to reservists. Q what if i disagree with any of this and refuse to comply a reservists complaints against civilian employers will be investigated by the local . Attorney. Q As a reservist being called up and taking a big pay reduction must i continue my current credit card payments a yes but interest rates May be reduced to 6 percent. The Legal office is processing wills and Powers of attorney As rapidly As possible. Volunteers have been called to help the maids in the hotel facilities because of the overwhelming numbers of air Crews and the Speed of their rotations. I see transportation Drivers making hundreds of runs a Day and the mechanics trying to keep every bus in the Fleet running. I see the Supply folks trying to fill All the requests of the maintenance troops who arc trying to keep All the aircraft flying in what Little time they have them on the ground. Yes i see All this Effort and More going on. At bases the other night my wife called me in to watch and listen to Gen. H. Norman Schwarzkopf the commander in chief of desert shield. The general was saying basically How intolerable the iraqi invasion occupation of Kuwait was is he likened it to rape. When questioned about the United states motivation for defending neighbouring saudi Arabia and threatening to use Force on Iraq unless it withdraw the general said again How intolerable the situation is and if i May paraphrase Here a no it has nothing to do with  truly intolerable situations. One can Only Hope that we never see the likes of this Saddam Hussein again but wait a Israel invaded Palestine or annexed to be More polite tolerable. The South african government has for too Long oppressed and killed South african Blacks in Masse children children and the United states treats these respective governments in quite a tolerable fashion.
