Before nov. 8, Only spouses of service members entitled to the military spouse preference could be hired for defense department jobs in Europe. The program gives a one time top priority in overseas hiring to spouses of service members. The latest exemption applies to family members of All civilian employees As Well As to military family members and spouses who have used their one time hiring privilege. Under both exemptions Community leaders May fill one position for every two vacancies As needed. The exemption applies to family members of non appropriated fund employees As Well As appropriated fund workers. Also included in the exemption from the freeze As of nov. 8 Are defense department employees returning to the work Force after having recuperated from work related injuries. Persons with severe disabilities such As blindness deafness or partial to Complete loss of use of limbs Are also excluded from the hiring freeze. Officials of the . Army in Europe requested the exception to the freeze in june based on the commands need for More flexibility in filling openings.
