Washington a attorney general Dick Thornburgh thursday ordered a Justice department review of reported complaints of police brutality in los Angeles and across the nation for possible patterns of misconduct. Thornburgh a announcement came after he met with two lawmakers who urged the Justice department to broaden its investigation of the beating of a Motorist by los Angeles officers to include other allegations of brutality against the City s police. The attorney general said in a statement that he had asked the Justice department s civil rights division a to undertake a review of All official complaints filed in this area within the past six years to discern whether any pattern of misconduct is  Thornburgh also ordered the depart mentus National Institute of Justice to determine if there is a correlation Between police brutality and. A Lack of adequate training and internal disciplinary procedures. A a a a. A a responsible Law enforcement officers condemn acts of police brutality by anyone in Law enforcement. Those engaged in Law enforcement must be among the first to assume the Observance of the civil rights and civil liberties of All citizens a Thornburgh said. A Thornburgh s chief spokesman Dan Eramian said the departments prosecutors would review All complaints of police brutality that have been filed with the civil rights division Over the last six years. The attorney general issued the statement after a breakfast meeting with reps. John Conyers d-mich., and edolphus towns d-n.y., chairman of the congressional Black caucus. Conyers said Thornburgh also agreed to examine any additional specific complaints of brutality that have not been reported to authorities Over the last six years. A a Eramian said he did not know How Many brutality complaints were received by the department during the six year pc Rod. A but  the attorney general gave him artist of 22 current investigations of local police departments that could Lead to criminal charges and 14 cases that have resulted in indictments . The six year period covers the statute of limitations on Federal civil rights crimes for which police could be prosecuted . Conyers has called for a Federal investigation to determine if there is a a culture of violence in the los Angeles police department As evidenced by the March 3 beating by three White officers of a Black Motorist. Tilton 51, was a Driver for the 377th services so at Ramstein where he had worked since 1981. His body was found in his bed tuesday by his Mother said a Ramstein spokesman. He apparently died of natural causes. A native of Buzzards Bay mass Tilton is survived by a son Steven f. Tilton 10, of Longford Germany and his Mother Virginia f. Tilton. Airman 20, sentenced for having Selling drugs Aviano Italy a amps a a 20-year-old air Force enlisted Man has been convicted of possessing and Selling drugs a spokesman said thursday. Airman 1st class Robert Kennedy assigned to the 40th Supply so at Aviano a Italy was sentenced to 20 months confinement master sgt. Jim Yohe said. Kennedy was convicted March 8 by a general court martial of two counts of distributing hashish and one count of Possession of hashish Yohe said. Kennedy was also Given a bad conduct discharge reduced to the Grade of airman Basic and ordered to forfeit $428 per month for 20 months he said. The 17-year-old apparently believed Reis was planning to steal the youths Girlfriend Muller said. So we cannot confirm any of this until we talk to these  Muller said investigators were now certain that Only the two 17-year-Olds were involved in the actual shootings. The 16-year-old May have helped get rid of the victims Isuzu jeep in the Nidd River Muller said. Police have placed the time of the slayings Between 9 and 11 . Saturday. Following tips from residents in Forstadt the police found the three teenagers the gun used in the slayings and the cd equipment stolen from the jeep and the res  killers lured Reis to a deserted parking lot near the autobahn under the pretence that they needed Reis to help fix a broken moped they abandoned there. Reis having had several Beers asked Hawthorne to do the driving. After killing the two men the youths drove Reisz jeep Back to the House entered it with Reisz key and killed the women.
