This makes it the oldest German american club of its Type and its also the largest with More than 200 Active members. Hara once staged most of its drag races at the Fliege Horst army Airfield at Erle see near Hanau but its been years since Fliege Horst has been used for racing. Regardless the club hangs onto the Hanau Auto racing Assn. Name because its traditional by now. At the Erle see races the largest crowd there topped the 13,000 Mark while at Gie Belstadt army Airfield a another site a the record was was 8,000. Most spectators of course Are from the military Community. So Hara has played a big role in promoting drag racing in Europe one of its main objects. Going into the 1991 season Lackey says that Hara will go a Aback to the basics and become a club for everyone who wants to go drag racing. For the past four years Hara has been associated with the organizers of the big time Jerry Lackey drag racing programs at Bockenheim Germany and in Zel Tweg Austria where the machinery was super costly and the events professional by european standards., a a a a a a a a a a a a a a. A we realized almost too late that we were headed in the wrong direction a Lackey says. A there were no personal touches in those big races at Bockenheim and Zel Tweg and we were starting to lose a sense of Friendship within our own club. There was no a family atmosphere. It was All becoming a big business. A and it was also much too expensive for the average entrant a Lackey said. A few military people can afford $30,000 vehicles or entry fees of 150 Marks a race. A whole years Hara membership costs Only 50 Marks. Drag racing at Bockenheim was becoming strictly a Case of who Nad the most Money. He has also worked out an agreement with a newly formed German club a drag racing association Germany drag a and together Hara and drag will conduct an International dragster cup series this year for the a Little  the series will consist of nine races with seven of them counting for championship Points.
