While Many of our senators Are swimming in Money our military personnel Are living near poverty level. If an e-5 with 10 years were to get a 4.1 percent a pay raise this year he or she would receive $675. That a $16,000 less than a senator will receive with a 4.1 percent raise. I understand that our senators Are elected and we Are All Volunteer and very proud of that fact but what about the deficit what about education social Security and the homeless what about All the failing savings and Loans and Banks. If the military needs to Cut Back How about the Senate its Job will be there tomorrow a. Not Many people in the private sector can say that. In a not complaining. I enjoy military life and its benefits. But when you look Back at the past six years when the Congress has More than doubled its salary and the military Hasni to had More than a 4.1percent raise something is drastically wrong. And now we will have to pay out More in taxes to cover senators raise. Has the . Economy improved to a degree to which the Senate deserves a 25 percent pay raise i think not. It was evident to us that the addition of their services was useful. These services included Short term counselling drop in baby sitting at no charge information and referral services and transportation to appointments. Our staff at Ems was grateful for the last service especially since some clients would not have come to appointments without the assistance. What Are the officials going to do with the Money they save give us another 4.1 percent raise and give themselves another 50 percent or Are they going to spend the Money on defense or maybe put it on the deficit while they Are saving this Money what is the Soldier going to do about supporting his or her child a child today costs almost if not More than $1,000 a month when you include food clothing a roof Over the family a head and the Cost to maintain that Home. If the Mother of that child is working then we must include Day care until the child is Able to attend school. A private first class today does not net that $1,000 per month it takes to maintain a household. That $304.50 that a private first class is receiving for his or her child is very thankfully received so he or she can give the child that much More. If i were also a Pentagon official pot fighting in the forces that guard my country and our lives and not prepared to give my life in their defense a and grossed $80,000 a year a then i would also say that $304.50 is not needed for a private first class with a child to support.
