Lets face it our jails Are not overcrowded with first time offenders who offer ignorance of the Laws As excuses for their actions. These people Are violent criminals murderers rapists armed robbers and in most cases they Are repeat offenders. Do we now charge the state with teaching our children that stealing and killing Are wrong to we really need to spend valuable class time on these Basic values that should be taught at Home on the family and Community level the government is not at fault for the breakdown and failure of the family unit in the United states. There also exist two Strong arguments against the states teaching Basic values to our children a first Many of our schools can barely teach Bur kids to write. Should they be trusted to teach something even More fundamental and important a second we be leery of a government that is responsible for teaching and enforcing Basic Laws were there not Low crime rates in Stalin a soviet Union and the chinese showed us How a state can a teach Quot its students right from wrong. Lets revive the Basic family unit in our country rather than charge the government with parental and family responsibilities. A Joseph t. Pucci ludwigs Burg German give recycling a iry after watching a German garbage truck spend More than 10 minutes and five attempts to Clear away a huge pile of garbage from just one housing dumpster i Appeal to my neighbors and to All americans to implement the trash separation policies that German Law requires. Since beginning the necessary recycling Steps i too have found at times it is inconvenient a for example throwing the ends of a Frozen juice can in the Metal Container and the Cylinder in the a fall others trash. And several times a week 1 must Stop and think about the full paper bag we throw our waste paper into. Yet there Are numerous reasons Why we All need to do so a German garbage service has been reduced to every other week in Bur area or 50 percent of previous service. The dumpsters quickly overfill with rotting stinking unsightly garbage. Separating and recycling will eliminate this. A this country As Well As our own is quickly running out of Landfill space. Separation will reduce this. A cities and counties All Over the states Are passing recycling Laws. You will not be Able to ignore them forever. We Are All reasonably intelligent people. It is not difficult to adjust our habits and routines when we have such a logically important reason to do so. Such measures As using clearly tabled garbage cans with tight fitting lids and grocery bags to hold organic paper Glass and Metal trash the bags can be thrown in the bins also which you a have to do anyway will make it easy for even the Laziest among us. If walking a Block or two with a couple of bags of bottles and paper is too a a european for you just throw them in the trunk and Stop off at any Green bin you chose especially easy if one is too full. Our Only other alternative is the disgusting unsanitary conditions that we now complain about. The germans will not change their Law a it is we who must change. What a great Opportunity to prove to everyone and ourselves that there really Are few a ugly americans Here. For example in new York state Justice John v. Rogowski made a speech saying unrestricted licenses for firearms should be maintained Only for politicians judges and a privileged that violates the spirit and intent of the Constitution in article 1, Section 9, where it states a no title of nobility shall be granted by the United under this article would it not be unlawful to Grant a a privileged exception to a few people while at the same time violating the rights of a the people under article 4, Section 2 article 5 the second amendment the fourth amendment the sixth amendment the ninth amendment and the 10th amendment since when is the United states not a democracy but a land where the concept of a privileged exception is practice a Dewayne t. Currier Ramstein a Ger anytime to help ourselves nine years in the air Force and almost four years in the army have afforded me a diversity of experiences and exposure to Many different cultures. Certainly being a part of operation provide Comfort has been enjoyable and heartwarming on the one hand and a confusing Mission on the other. We can be extremely proud of the letters to the editor magnificent Effort put Forth by Noble warriors for a Noble cause. By virtue of its unselfish honorable and undemanding acts in Northern Iraq and Turkey for a destitute desperate people the military has demonstrated that we Are indeed a Light a a shining Beacon of Hope for All people. Such a massive humanitarian Effort deserves much applause and commendations. No one realizes this More than i. However America in its reviewing of this entire episode must see a Peculiar disturbing contradiction. That is we hardly Ever attack our Domestic issues with As much dedication sacrifice and Zeal. Remember that turks kurd or other people throughput the world done to have a monopoly on internal problems and strife. We All have family friends and fellow americans experiencing Many similar problems. Feeding a family buying housing and attempting to live a reasonably comfortable life is becoming extremely difficult for the a a average american. Let us. Help others but truly begin to make an Effort to help ourselves before we so gallantly venture off As the Knight in shining Armor to Rescue every Damsel in distress. A sgt. Jimmie l. Wilder Iii operation provide comfor indians want respect i would like to address the letter a help american in 1851, the treaty of horse Creek was signed at fort Laramie. Eight thousand indians attended this meeting. Among the trittes were Sioux Northern cheyennes Arapahoe hid Atsas Man dans crows Assiniboine and others. In this treaty the indians guaranteed travellers the right of Safe passage though Indian country and permitted the building of roads and forts but they also accepted their own allocation to specific1 tribal territories called reservations a like tracts with boundaries As fixed As those of the state Union. They promised to abstain from warring on each other. The Federal government guaranteed that the native american indians land would be theirs forever. On nov. 27, 1868, Gen. George a. Custer attacked a sleeping Cheyenne Village on the Washita River killing peaceful men women and children. Black Kettle chief of the Cheyenne was holding a White Flag of peace. He died in a Hail of bullets. This was called the Battle of Washita. Gen. Philip Sheridan commented a the Only Good Indian i Ever saw was this was shortly polished into a the Only Good Indian is a dead the native american was a peaceful human being until promises to them were broken. Their children and women were massacred while corrupt Indian agents let them starve on reservations. European immigrants killed the native american indians staff of life the Buffalo. They also polluted Springs and streams. I do not believe that the native american Indian wishes the government to repay him for the suffering he has endured he wishes Only to be treated As an equal human being and that his traditions be respected. He also wishes to be granted the same rights guaranteed to All americans in the Constitution. A Rosie painted horse Sioux Giessen Germany
