The department lost the first round in that Case in mid Junet when a Federal judge in Roanoke va., ruled that Vii May continue to keep out women while receiving nearly $150,000 a year in state scholarship Money. Attorney general Dick Thornburgh said monday that the department now will press its constitutional Challenge in the 4th . Circuit court of appeals in Richmond. A the important issues in this cases should be settled at a higher level Thornburgh said. If Vii ultimately loses the Case it would have the option of either admitting women students or becoming a purely private College which would allow it to continue its male Only policy. Vii a 152-year-old military College located in Lexington va., is the Only remaining single sex institution among Virginia a 15 state supported colleges. It now has about 1,300 students 35 of whom have their entire education paid for by state scholarship funds. It is considered to be the toughest military school in the nation because of its tradition of breaking Down cadets prior views and habits so that it can remold them into disciplined  thousands of rules govern every facet of a cadets life and violations Are punished swiftly. The Institute has never admitted women and for the past two years has refused even to reply when a woman seeks admission. Over a recent three year period it got inquiries from 347 women but it is unclear How Many wanted to go there. Vii graduates Are among the states most influential business and political figures. . Hallett described Topor As being affiliated with the croatian National resistance and said the group operates in the United states and Canada. She referred reporters to the Fri for further information but Bob Long a spokesman for the Fri in Chicago said he had no information about Topor. Store owner Doug Russell last month contacted an undercover customs agent posing As a weapons supplier and informed him of Jurkovics interest in buying military weapons and other equipment customs agents said. Customs commissioner Carol Hallett and agent John Kelly display some of the seized weapons at a Washington news conference monday. The bottles distributed by Esco imports of Texas inc., Are 3 inches Long with rubber nipples and either Pink or Blue Caps. Some Are marked a bottle baby and All Are labelled a polythene nursing bottle. Esco. 3-211made in China. The consumer product safety commission said the nipples can come off and urged that the bottles be taken away from Young children immediately. No injuries involving the bottles have been reported to the commission or the company. The bottles were sold in packages of two for 29 cents to 59 cents at variety grocery and discount stores from May 1982 through january 1991. The stores were located in 13 states Illinois Indiana Iowa Kentucky Louisiana Michigan Mississippi Ohio Oklahoma new York Texas Utah and Wisconsin.
