I was in saudi Arabia and the nearest Post office was about 10 to 15 Miles away. I had no vehicle to get to it so i guess i did something really stupid or 1 guess 1 trusted in the mail system. I was trying to get a mothers Day present to my Mother so that she would receive it prior to that Day. So 1 took a Large envelope and placed a to shirt and a mothers Day card in it. Inside the card i put a pair of earrings that i just knew my Mother would love. I mailed it through my battalion mail system. Would you believe that someone violated my privacy and mailed my Mother an empty envelope i thought that this was the worst act of injustice. Not Only did i get ripped off but it was for my Mother. They could have at least have the common Courtesy and mailed the card even if they had kept the earrings. A sgt. Miriam Diaz Karlstedt Germany # never waive your rights this amounts to some free Legal advice to the airman who Felt that Justice was not served in his Case As Well As to anyone in the . Mcneill Wurzburg Germany wrongful blame to the writer of a Justice not served As a first sergeant for four years i have seen others with your attitude on their Way out of the air Force. Your letter drips of sarcasm and an inability on your part to Cope with your problems in a healthier Way. Its a poor attempt to degrade our military Justice system and its evident you have not accepted the fact that you received an article 15 for your own irresponsibility a not anyone cd Sci a. You re still trying to place he blame on an instructor who As you put it you had a minor disagreement with. You overslept and missed your flight. That a the Bottom line. It was your fault. Karl Farris the former commander of the Hohenfels training area submitted a rebuttal to my opinion on express Tours published in the july 14 a be our guest column asserting that i had made some false allegations and implying that i had no business commenting on Hohenfels it Tours because i had never been on one. In the first place contrary to the information he received from his mar folks1 had the distinct pleasure of going on a thanksgiving tour to Vienna sponsored by the old Hohenfels itt. 1 hat trip was a Delight but As with everything it had its Good and bad Points. In my Humble opinion the ride Down and Back was a a Bear a while the hotel stay was a godsend. The Point Here is that in be been around the Block and i am qualified to write opinions on it Tours As Well As hours in general. In the column i made no allegations against the Hohenfels it. I did list the risks a tourist should consider when planning to take an express tour a using the Paris trip which was then in the planning stage As an example. I think most readers understand the difference Between the past present and future tenses and were Able to grasp my line of reasoning. Unfortunately the column was printed after the tour had been launched thereby confusing some of the More emotional members of the sub Community staff. While Cal. Farris did an excellent Job of attacking me and decrying imaginary allegations he failed to address the main thrust of my argument a that Tours featuring Short interludes of sightseeing sandwiched Between Long bus rides can to be fun because they arc too hectic. It does t take a Genius to see that the ratio of Road time to Down time is too High to allow for a relaxing tour. I continue to insist that convex simulations arc Good alternatives to express Tours. A Thomas p. Sweeney Hohenfels Germany column called offensive you have been expecting my letter. I not you should be. In a sure mine will not be the Only complaint regarding Joe Bob Briggs column on aug. 18. I understand your paper has to Caincr to a variety of service members and their dependents but i think More consideration should be put into your selection of articles. Comedy is supposed to be funny not offensive which is exactly what i Felt his column was. So did More than a few of my co workers males included he referred to women in every printable form of slander. Would you have been so Quick to print something that downgraded a different minority in the military even if it was intended As a joke 1 doubt it. Its hard enough for service members to get equal treatment and respect without having a newspaper that a basically meant for the military condoning sexism. V some will say a Well done to read it if you done to like but its not like to where there is a viewer discretion advisory. You have to read at least a Little bit of the article before you get the topic. By the time 1 read the first few words of the piece i was too angry to Stop.
