To begin with there is no such thing As an irs reimbursement. Under very tight rules the irs will allow mileage deductions for business use of vehicles. Under the heading of business deductions car mileage May result in an adjustment of Gross income which May result in a lower amount of taxes paid. The actual tax reduction or reimbursement if you will from the irs is always substantially less than the 27.5 cents per mile allowed for the deduction. Therefore a direct reimbursement from the government of 25 cents per mile is probably much More generous than the irs deductions.
