Now lets Stop fooling ourselves and the Public and unveil the truths about surviving with cafes. A Hundred dollars Worth of merchandise for $76 a what a Deal. Now it be wonderful if we could regularly find $100 Worth of necessary merchandise. What use is it to us to save 24 percent on porcelain when we cannot find shoes for our children will the Beer steins keep us warm this Winter How can cafes sell us an expensive watch with a straight face knowing they done to Stock watch batteries the percentage we save on purchasing through cafes is of very Little use to us anyway. Our 24 percent is used for shipping and handling charges on mail orders from stateside. It goes in our Gas tanks when we drive from base to base hoping someone had the foresight to order luxuries like affordable clothing school supplies tools or personal Hygiene items. It goes to the Bank when we Exchange our dollars to local currency hoping to find what we need on the Economy. Occasionally it goes Back to cafes when we re forced to buy More expensive versions of the affordable items that Are out of Stock with frightening regularity. What a savings. A sgt. Laura . Keene Raf Alconbury England tax dollars misdirected i am very upset at the ongoing renovations taking place Here at the Hospital in bad Cannstatt. This facility is going to close in less than a year yet vast amounts of monies Are still being spent. For what so that we can abandon a a a Nice Hospital so the germans can reap the benefits of my tax dollars what gives Here Are the contractors trying to bleed the last bit of Uncle same a dollars i am sick of my tax dollars being poured into this place so it looks great when the Gates Are finally closed. A David c. Kaiser bad Cannstatt German plea to neighbors my husband and i moved into government housing six months ago and Are very disappointed. We decided to move Here because of the convenience but we have discovered its not really Worth it. Despite the commercials on an about living in government housing some people choose to ignore what they an Are saying. In a talking about Plain old consideration. Where is it i understand people like their music and it helps them relax after a hard Day at work. However not everyone wants to hear it played at full volume As the music player drives Down a residential Street. There Are also hundreds of children living Here and that a Why there is a posted Speed limit of 30 Kph 18 Mph. I have seen people driving 50 Kph 30 Mph or More. Children can run out in front of a car with no warning at All. A person driving too fast could seriously injure or kill a child. Isnit going slow and taking a few extra minutes Worth the life of a child i would also like to Appeal to the people who meet outside buildings late at night. Could you please talk More quietly or go to your apartment on More than one occasion people have had loud conversations outside our building As late As 11 or 12 of clock at night which makes it hard to sleep. In masking All of you who live in government housing to please consider your neighbors before you do something. It really will make life easier and More comfortable for All of us. Such letters should be addressed to readers action line the stars and stripes Apo a 09211. Letters to the editor the department of defense has spent millions of dollars in establishing sat net a worldwide satellite television system. This system allows arts outlets worldwide the availability of live television coverage and timely delivery of other programs. Due to the change in the availability of alternative programming and the financial investment in the sat net system arts and an now have a new role to serve their viewers. Their role As sole source of English language programming is in the past. However they now Are the Only source available for the broadcast of live news and sports events. As such tape delaying broadcast of College football is unwarranted. This is further complicated by the Domino effect witnessed on oct. 19. If in fact you choose to air a movie in place of a sports event then drop that event and pick up the next live sports or news program. Sports fans often tune in to your live radio broadcast and hear the final score of a game just starting on television. In the Case of the programming of oct. 19, it meant that the live broadcast of world series game one was joined in Progress. This same concept was attempted during the Mcaa basketball playoffs. In my View this is a disservice to your audience. A a. Cleveland Oslo Norway applauds army changes As an no in today a modern army i look Forward to the changes the army is finally making. They Are changes soldiers have asked for since the beginning of the army. Soldiers in the Barracks be treated differently than soldiers living off Post or in government quarters simply because they Are not married. Soldiers Are soldiers. Single soldiers or soldiers separated from their spouses Are forced to comply with various restrictions simply because they live in the Barracks. How often does the battalion or company commander hold open closet inspections in a married soldiers Home. The Barracks Are the single soldiers Home therefore give this Soldier the same Type of freedoms afforded to those soldiers living outside the Barracks. As to the writers claim that substance abuse cases Are going to Rise this is a society wide problem and Barracks dwelling soldiers Are not the Only military involved. Soldiers living in quarters and off Post Are just As Likely to be Al Holics and drug users As those soldiers in the Barracks. As for adultery in the Barracks Well lets just say it takes two to tango. A sgt. Christopher a. Lambert Augsburg German yarn to living in past concerning the sports programming choices on an to i can no longer hold Back. I have noted a trend of saturday evening programming which includes tape delay of live sporting events to allow the airing of movies and alternative entertainment. This concept is to allow audience members who Are not sports fans an Opportunity to View television programming that is More in tune with their tastes. In years past this was an understandable concept. However the expansion of satellite television technology Cable systems and the availability of videotape rentals has changed the entertainment fans a favor re your sports Story a delay leaves an playing catch up with series a i wanted to see the end of the exciting and very Well played Washington Cali fornia football clash and did not miss one Dull moment of the opening innings of the world series. An to programmers should be complimented for their new innovation of leaving out the commercial Breaks in order to get in two games on saturday and sunday evenings. Like Many sports fans i am bored seeing the same tired old commercials Over and Over again. By editing out the dead time for a a word from our local stations a an is doing the sports fans a tremendous favor. The sports fan does not get to see a Battle like the Washington Cal Fomia game every week.
