This causes More problems than you can imagine not Only for the Soldier but also for his her Chain of command. If you believe that drinking is a problem with the soldiers you have met maybe you should try referring them to acc. If you think that soldiers done to care about their rank or article 15s, us Prisc you re wrong. One of the things i care about is Money. The Way i wish to spend it is my business whether i choose to Send most of it Home or go to the red Light District in Frankfurt a that is of no concern to you. How Many times does someone walk into your bedroom to see if your boots Are lined up your environment dust free or if you cleaned your windows that Day How often does someone come knocking on your door looking for your husband for an after duty hour detail instead of nabbing someone from the billets this is one of the Best things that the army has done for its soldiers living in the billets. A spec. Rolando Martinez bad Kissinger Germany a a charges were a a big deals this is in response to the letter a a what a the big Deal a while i agree that people change and should not always be judged by their past actions this accusation of sexual harassment is no Little matter. First of All the writer does not seem to be aware of the fact that sexual harassment in the workplace is illegal. At the time that judge Clarence Thomas allegedly committed these acts not Only was he a lawyer he was in charge of the Agency entrusted with eliminating sexual harassment in the workplace. If judge Thomas is guilty of what he has been accused he blatantly disobeyed the Law he was entrusted to enforce. Is this the Type of person we want sitting on the supreme court of the United states if he had no regard for the Law then Why should we expect that he has changed and even if he has does that make him worthy of a seat on the supreme court it is a big Deal if judge Thomas is guilty of what he has been accused. Unfortunately that is something we will never know. The Senate thought so Little of this accusation and the democrats were so eager to Stop the nomination that the entire situation was mishandled. Not Only were judge Thomas and professor Hill publicly humiliated the american Public is led to believe that sexual harassment is allowable if there Are no witnesses. I do not know whether judge Thomas is guilty or not but the Senate has just set the process of eliminating sexual harassment in the workplace Back 20 years. I must say this whole process was a fiasco and if there Are lots of people like this writer who believe a a what a the big Deal a then we Are really grim it backwards in the move for civil rights. Quot a Brenda k. Smith Karlstedt Germany a a the positives of Hunting i ant upset by All of the anti Hunting letters appearing in the stars and stripes recently. Have you Ever read past the cover of any Hunting or fishing Magazine True a lot of the articles Are on How to make the Best of a Hunting or fishing trip. But for every article on Hunting there is one on conservation preservation or the need to Recycle used equipment. Most of the sporting magazines and organizations support these ideals All of the ones i subscribe or belong to do. I have grown up with these sporting magazines. My father introduced me to Hunting Reading about Safe Hunting participating in Hunting skills contests . Turkey and Ham shoots. I have continued Reading these magazines because they show me what Hunting is about safety use the whole kill and do not waste ammunition or wildlife. . This describes How Hunters trapped a Herd of Deer inside a fenced Field and then used trucks to Chase them into the sights of other Hunters to be illegally shot. Or How about the article in the september 1991 Issue of National geographic while that article deals with poaching it describes at least one situation that represents almost exactly the one depicted in the tank Mcnamara cartoon strip that the writer found so offensive. In fact the abuses and atrocities documented in the articles in be cited Are exactly the kinds of things that help create anti Hunting sentiment in All types of people not just those belonging to a Nincompoop anti Hunting organizations such As Peta a As the writer called them. Ironically Many of the anti Hunting people share the writers expressed desire to preserve wildlife for future generations to enjoy. They just done to believe you have to kill it to preserve it. Many of these people also share his enjoyment of the outdoors but pursue that enjoyment through hiking camping or photograph ing nature. Finally when one looks at the number of animals such As the grizzly Bear or Mountain lion that Are in danger of being hunted to extinction one wonders whether All that Money the writer feels is being used to preserve wildlife is doing its Job. A David l. Albert Berli Hunters arc scapegoats in a Hunters at fault a the writer alluded to natural predators culling out the weak and inferior Stock stating that it was an a absurd ideas that License fees go toward the preservation of game animals because wildlife managers artificially manipulate the environment they oversee. I would like to know what natural predators the writer was talking about. In most areas of the United states the natural predators of Deer for instance were eliminated by Farmers who feared for their livestock and by the rapid development of natural habitats. As a result some of these areas Are faced with overpopulation in spite of Liberal game for the wildlife management system Hunters have indeed paid billions into this system. Wildlife managers using these funds have had no other Choice but to a artificially manipulate the environment. Why to keep up with the so called a civilized society that seems intent on either paving or fencing in the entire continent. Managers have gone to great lengths to restore wild populations through transplantation and strict enforcement of game Laws. Most Hunters Welcome this Effort. We Are All at fault in one Way or another for the degradation of the environment. However Hunters Are becoming scapegoats for a society that has just realized the damage that we have inflicted upon nature. A James f. Shope Hillesheim Germany a dealing with problems this is in response to the letters a army wife Speaks out and a a wife a there Are flaws to every organization the army a no exception. Look at the . Government and its court system. We think its the Best in the world but there Are . In Man army wife of eight years. In be encountered my share of ugly circumstances but rather than complain about the a a system open your Mouth to someone about it. Write your congressmen rather than sit Back and say a this Active duty members have complaints too in a sure but the soldiers just a dealt with it a and that a what we As wives need to do too. Every duty station is different too. Some Are better than others. 1 was at fort Stewart ga., for seven years. They have a fantastic support system made up mostly of volunteers. Volunteer in places that need help suggest ideas to people of importance. Done to wait for someone else to change it. You do your Best to do that if you can. You owe it to yourself your family and the Community. If you done to have the ambition to do anything then done to. Just Stop complaining and a Deal with it like the rest of us.
