Everyone has been crying a what about me done to forget id like to focus a Little attention on a group of soldiers making deep sacrifices for their country. This unit is the 1st in 7th air defense arty Patriot which last year was named the Best Patriot battalion in Usa eur. This battalion is currently in saudi Arabia deployed for the second time for who knows How Long. The first time two batteries a and a were deployed to Israel while Btry b sweated it out in saudi Arabia. Six months after they returned batteries a c and d were deployed again much to the dismay and anger of the families left behind. Few in the Media seem to realize there Are still soldiers in saudi and the United states seems to have forgotten them. Most of the support Structure built up for the troops during desert shield storm is gone now and no one seems to care. I would like to personally thank these soldiers for All that they have sacrificed and thank the families for sticking by them. You see not Only am i in the military my husband is in this unit. Come Home soon. A 1st it. Paula Gutierrez Kaiserslautern Germany ripped off and angry my apologies. I would Send this letter to the person actually at fault if i knew who it was. Dear person who stole the pages from the october Issue of gourmet Magazine because you did not want to spend $2.50 at the Bookstore you Tore pages in our Case an entire Section from a Magazine and placed it Back on the so self. Imagine my Surprise when i bought it and discovered the next Day that my Purchase was incomplete. You sir or May am Are a Fine example of what i assumed normally restrained itself to growing in the cracks of locker room showers. What sort of moral derelict carefully steals eight pages from a Magazine instead of spending $2.50? a Elizabeth Killebrew Conwell Hanau Germany Unity key to Equality there have been a lot of questions raised about people who Wear to shirts that say a a it a a Black some of the writers have said that shirts like these promote racism. One writer a White female even suggested that she does understand. I would like to reply to both of those statements. The Only Way we As a Black race will Ever achieve total Equality is through Unity. Every Effort we make to unify among ourselves on the basis of what we Are is labelled As racism. If we say that we want to form something that a based on afro american people getting together it is called reverse discrimination or racism. The italians got together because they were italians. The jews got together on the basis of being jewish. The Irish got together on the basis of being Irish. So what a wrong with african americans getting together on the basis of being african american speaking like this does no to mean that in a anti White. In a not. We re anti or against what some of our caucasian Brothers Are doing wrong against us. White americans think they understand the Black thing because they listen to exploitation rap such As Vanilla ice or View the Arsenio Hall show or Wear Michael Jordan athletic gear. This does no to constitute the knowledge of the atrocities african americans have suffered throughout their lives. There Are just some things in life that you have to go through to be Able to fully understand. I done to know what it is to be White. And being Black you understand. A sgt. Gregory l. The institution of the unit mail room number and changing the time honoured Apo new York to a distinctive Apo a will undoubtedly Speed future mail service. One Small current problem though were companies in the United states with computerized addressing systems told that the change would take place and if so How i have been told on numerous occasions that my change of address cannot be processed because either the computer a a Fields in which the state address is entered will not accept Apo a or the computer will not accept my new four line address. Perhaps the address change was coordinated with the . Postal system and a number of the larger Billing and shipping companies but it seems the word is not spreading far or fast. If we Are counting on the a trickle Down effect As hundreds of firms doing business with service members overseas first learn of then Purchase modified address software necessary to accommodate the postal changes there is every possibility that our mail will slow to a trickle when the changes become mandatory in 1992. A Randy Dodds Stuttgart Germany a Iii Slin or attitude this is a reaction to the letter a victims needed the author making Loose reference to the second amendment suggested that if some of the patrons of the kill Een Texas diner where George Hen Nard staged his infamous massacre had been carrying firearms of their own fewer people would have been killed. If the author were actually serious i am compelled to question How Many people on a National basis would be injured or killed As a result of unintentional discharges and escalated arguments if More citizens adopted a similar a a gunslinger attitude. I submit that the number would be considerably higher than those injured and killed in attacks similar to Hennard a. Contrary to the authors argument and those put Forth by Many favouring still looser gun control the second amendment does not Grant every american the right to tote a pistol wherever he or she goes. The amendment reads a a Well regulated militia being necessary to the Security of a free state the right of the people to keep and Bear arms shall not be the amendment was written at a time when personal firearms played a vital role in National defense. It is not a License to play with guns. A 1st it. Thom Mukri Karlsruhe Germany displeased with coverage i would like to express my displeasure with the stars and stripes. As the heated Issue of gun control has raged in the nations capital your paper has repeatedly presented news articles concerning tragic deaths or injuries with unnecessary stress upon the Type of weapon or its Magazine capacity. In so doing you Are supporting anti gun legislation. I do not know if this is allowable but i do know that i am angry that the Only newspaper available to servicemen and women overseas is aiding the attack on constitutional rights. A chief warrant officer 2 Donald e. Hussen Karlsruhe Germany reverse perspective this is in response to a letter and also a question on the feedback Page. The question was a should american sports teams drop their Indian nicknames Quot the letter was titled a Call Mem now lets suppose for a moment that 400 or 500 years ago native americans had sailed the Ocean Blue and a a discovered Europe. Lets suppose again that they were looking for a route to India so they called the native europeans after this they went about the business of taking Over Europe for themselves a engaging in everything from trickery to War and a number of outright massacres a after which tin they drove the native europeans onto a number of very Small reservations. And lets suppose that while All this was happening they went to Africa and got a slave Trade set up and brought to Europe some africans to do their work. After several centuries go by the native americans have several professional sports teams and in order to maintain that european flavor they gave their teams nicknames like the a White skins a a the Pale faces a and a the in order for us to fully understand the feelings of native americans on this Issue we have to put ourselves in their place.
