Crosbie e. Saint made some very Good Points on Why the rotations should not take place. Gen. Saint also made a comment that bothered me enough to write. A today about 50 percent of our Force is married a Saint said. A we say we like married people because they Are stable industrious and have integrity. I done to think they join the army to be separated from their so basically in that one sentence Gen. Saint said that married soldiers Are More reliable have better moral standards and also have More self Pride than us single soldiers. The Virtues of being stable industrious and having integrity make a Soldier More reliable. These Virtues Are not instilled in soldiers because they Are married they Are instilled through our Church our parents and our leaders. I would like to Point out to Gen. Saint that the single Soldier fills the ranks directs the Mission As an no and leads the Way As the commissioned officer. All of these jobs require soldiers who Are stable industrious and have integrity a married or single. A spec. Scott Tavegia Hanau German gun idea a asinine Quot so now according to a recent writer Many of those who died in the shooting deaths in Killeen Texas might be alive today if Only someone had shot Back at this deranged Man. But alas no one had thought to exercise their second amendment rights and bring along their trusty semiautomatic assault weapon Why Settle for a simple handgun in such dangerous times to drop George Hennard in his tracks. Shame on All those innocent and unarmed people. Such asinine thinking which attempts to use a tragedy such As that which occurred in Killeen and tie it to the second amendment which establishes the a right of the people to keep and Bear arms in order to maintain a a Well regulated militia a really sickens me. A Rick Kearney Wiesbaden German victims not at fault 1 want to address the writer who suggested that if the victims of the Killeen massacre had been carrying guns not As Many innocent people would have been killed or wounded. Do you suggest that every Man woman and child should carry a gun when shopping going to the movies going to Church or simply going out to lunch a As these innocent Law abiding citizens of Killeen were doing you need to express your views to the survivors the family and friends of the deceased and to the residents of Killeen. You need to Tell them it was the fault of their loved ones or friends or co workers that they were killed or wounded because they did no to use their second amendment rights and carry a gun to lunch. Tell that to Sylvia King s family. She was Young and Beautiful. She was my Friend from childhood but she should have known to carry a gun to lunch. She was one of those killed but its her fault Isnit it Tell that to the families of the two to electric co. Secretaries who were killed instantly when they were shot Point Blank in the head. In a sure their families would be interested to hear your Tell that to Amy Ernst a parents. Her father was shot in the Chest her Mother was shot in the Arm. They survived her grandmother did t. They should have known better than to Stop for lunch without a gun or maybe they thought they would t be attacked on the Way to amyl a wedding so they left their guns at Home. So when you re fighting anti handgun advocates you remind those who suffered at the hands of George Hennard and his guns that they have no one to blame but themselves for not bringing a gun with them to lunch. The victims of this massacre were not at fault a George Hennard was. These victims done to deserve a second attack. A Melissa d. I certainly can sympathize with her feelings about the types of prejudice that she described. This is my second tour with my husband in the Netherlands. My first tour started out much the same Way As she described. Id been rebuffed for being female or a sergeants wife or because i was More comfortable in jeans or worst of All because i was the wrong color. I started to see this tour in Europe As a very very bad idea. Then i met a remarkable woman an instructor affiliated with the University of Maryland at that time. Her major gift to me was to cause me to shift my attitude. It took quite a while for me to accomplish this and it was not without setbacks. But Little by Little it happened and All of a sudden i was having fun. I also lived on the Economy at the time and when i relaxed and stopped looking to those people who kept finding something wrong with me i found a different kind of Friend the kind of Friend who accepted me for who 1 was faults and All. We went to the local markets and local sights took classes together a we had a Ball. One year we even had an International thanksgiving where a German Soldier showed us a different Way to carve a Turkey. All nationalities at letters to the editor accent Allied forces Central Europe were represented. It was a real Day to give thanks. This is our second tour at accent and we did indeed ask to come Back. We again live on the Economy and Are establishing friendships with our neighbors dutch and american alike. It takes time to develop these friendships but As before the anticipated rewards will be infinite. As before these friendships will last Well after the tour is Over. The experiences to be gained will also give me something infinitely precious to share with family and friends when i get Back to the states. A Susanna Ayers Brun sum Netherlands Mailer of sportsmanship this is in reference to the letter from the regulator paintball team Captain. The officiating at the army european championship paintball tournament was accurate and impartial. What happened in the playoffs is known to All who participated. The a a sportsmanship demonstrated by the regulator team from Mannheim is what this sport is not about. This sport is competitive in nature which builds camaraderie within each team and Between teams. What is not stated in his letter is that his team verbally abused the officials and displayed poor sportsmanship throughout the tournament. As for the rest of the teams i would say we All had a Good time and Are looking Forward to future tournaments.
