     European Stars and Stripes (Newspaper) - December 10, 1991, Darmstadt, Hesse                                Sports changing with the seasons editor is note today Marks the Start of the stars and stripes outdoor column a biweekly feature called Europe outdoors that will focus mainly on Hunting and fishing in Europe. Because sportsmen Are interested in much More than shooting animals and catching fish the column also will cover related topics such As conservation sportsmen s rights and responsibilities and the contributions of outstanding individuals. From time to time it will include other outdoor sports such As hiking camping canoeing Etc. Among the information provided will be programs and activities of sportsmen s groups and regulatory agencies including the Usa eur Hunting and fishing office the association of american Rod and gun clubs Europe and other organizations of interest to service members and Dod civilians. This is the time of year when the outdoor sports change with the seasons. Though the Roe and red Deer Hunting seasons have been open in parts of Europe for months the thoughts of Many american sportsmen do not turn to Hunting until the arrival of the first frosty nights. Fishing rods Are reluctantly Pul away and shotguns and rifles Are pulled Down from Racks to be gone Over and fired on ranges before being taken out into the Field. Several weeks ago a group of us from the German american heartland Fly Fishers club travelled to Germany seder River for what was probably one of the last fishing Days of fhe season. The River was Low from Lack of rain but the Sun was warm in the Valley and the Grayling were rising voraciously to a mixed insect Hatch it was one of those Golden fall Days that you remember in the Depths of Winter. We were also told by another person at the Mac terminal that if they were compatible to just put them in the same Cage and not to worry about it. T would like to know what the Correct answer is. I Don t want to get to the terminal with both animals and find out at the last moment that the ferret can t go with us. We have had her for a Long time and she is just As much family As the dog. Ferrets Are very similar to a cat. They eat cat food and use litter boxes and if treated right Are very Friendly does the regulation state dogs and cats Only because they Are the Only animals recognized As a Domestic Quot As of three months ago the army recognized ferrets As a Domestic animals. My ferret has received her shots from the army vet and will be getting her health certificate for travelling from them. What Are parents suppose to Tell their children when the military tells them they can to take their pets Back to the states of More consideration was Given to the different types of pets we might have less abandoned animals.
