Yet i be Hoen accepted and rejected because of i by physical appearance. I m 100 percent hispanic. Would you say the color of my skin is Brown maybe Olive what about my eyes and hair because in a hispanic have you already stereotyped me to be dark if you have you re wrong. My skin is very White. My hair is Light Brown and my eyes Are Hazel. I be been discriminated against by both Black and White. In be been called a a want to be and a a rare but those Are Only words. They Don t Hurt unless i let them. Its the same people who see Only their color who can t accept others. It s not a a Black it s not a a White things either. Its not a any things at All. Its people defending their own color. Yeah but we re All of color. Would defending your color As Well As others be so wrong i accept you for just being you yet in a discriminated by both Black and White because neither can accept me or each other. You re putting me in the Middle where i Don t want to be. We re All people. We All come from somewhere. We re All of color. Stop worrying about your own color so much that you can to see beyond that. Start accepting and respecting people for who they arc. You May be surprised at the respect you la receive. If color is so important to you Start leaching children that colors Are everywhere and show them the Beauty in All of our colors. A Jerri Romero Vilseck Germany a a whereas Oregon while studying a recent stars and stripes front Page map i found that Washington now occupies the space that Oregon once did. As a state resident of Oregon 1 found that quite troubling. Does this mean i have to change my residency a Wesley j. Paul Ramstein a Germany what happened to Oregon apparently geography is not Only a problem for High school kids. I do know its Oregon that Borders on californians Northern Border not Washington As indicated on a recent front Page map. A Brandon lovin Baum older Germany i have always believed that Many journalists have had connections in High places but when i discovered that the stars and stripes had physically moved the stale of Washington so that it bordered California it blew me away. Any Chance you could move Seattle to somewhere within Germany it would be Nice to visit family for Christmas. Thanks anyway. A Kurt Sims Kaiserslautern Germany Cooks get raw Deal three groups in the army work the worst hours maps medics and Cooks. Of the three the Cooks Are easily the most unappreciated. We work More hours in a week than your average Soldier. When you re rolling out of bed for it the Cooks have been working for an hour. When you Are getting off work at 4 30 or 5 . The Cooks will still be at work for another two hours. On holidays like thanksgiving while you re at Home enjoying a Nice meal with the family where Are the Cooks in the a fac dining facility preparing a Good Quality meal for the soldiers. When the unit gets a training Holiday for Good work where Are the Cooks in the a fac. On weekends when you get to sleep in As late As you want where Are the Cooks in the a fac. Ever been to a battalion organization Day who do you think ends up behind the grills the Cooks. While everyone else is playing games and enjoying themselves the Cooks Are sweating Over a hot Grill. After you have All gone Home the Cooks Are still cleaning up the mess left behind. Am i bitter definitely. In the eight years in be been an army Cook in be seen the Cooks As a group used and abused More than any other mos military occupational specially. So i done to take kindly to someone who wants to take away one of the Only ways for us to feel Good about our Job and the . Army. A Chi. Or does he realize that during the War some a co oks spent hours on Mats Mobile Kitchen trailer enduring heat that exceeded 125 degrees As to the claim however inaccurate that there will be a no appreciable improvement a somebody somewhere will notice a difference if its Only in that soldiers attitude toward his Job. Somebody will notice. He should realize the importance of morale among troops and its correlation to Job performance among troops. Sorry we Cooks done to get to go to Graf and spend hundreds of thousands of dollars of did i say spend dollars i meant spend Hundred of rounds of ammunition practising our mos military occupational specially. A if the Money spent on other mos training or morale was spent on food service specialists 94bsthe army would have chefs Par excellence. A sgt. Gregory Thompkins Friedberg German Friendly Frankfurt i a a w in reference and rebuttal to the letter regarding Frankfurt High school i feel compelled to respond. On nov. 16 my fellow officials and i went to Frankfurt High school to officiate the semifinal big schools contest is. Stuttgart. The reception we received by students was Friendly. A Young lady went so far As to Lead us through a Maze of several twisting hallways to put us in Contact with someone who could let us into our dressing room. Throughout the entire time our Crew was at Frankfurt we were treated with Courtesy and respect by All of the students we came in Contact with including the student athletes on the Field and support personnel. In every social situation there Are those who make it difficult to find the reason Why we go to the bother of being there in the first place. I am sure that Frankfurt is no exception. If we wish to air dirty laundry i Cun assure you that i could relate some examples of blatantly poor conduct by students from other schools. Lets remember that we Are involved in youth activities and athletics for the kids. When it comes Down to voicing personal opinions about kids at a time when most Are desperately searching for their own identity then perhaps it is time to get out. A James e. Bunch referee Kaiserslautern Germany via Law in t fair f retired from the army in August 1991 20 years service. I decided to remain in Germany and seek employment with the Federal government. Upon visiting my local civilian personnel office co in Grafe Wohr Germany 7th army training command was in formed of Public law1 102-16, veterans readjustment appointments. After attempting to apply for Job positions listed under via consideration i was told that i was ineligible for a via appointment. Co personnel told me i did not qualify due to the fact that i had not served in Vietnam and had not received a Campaign badge or expeditionary medal. I enlisted in the army in june of 1971.1 was not sent into a wartime conflict during my career in the army. I did however faithfully serve and support my country and the army for 20 years during the Adverse times my country was engaged in two wars Vietnam and desert storm. 1 feel that the via Law is discriminatory due to the fact that those servicemen Post Vietnam veterans who entered military service after May 7,1975, Are eligible for via appointment and because i was in the military prior to 1975 i am ineligible. I feel that i am being penalized and discriminated against because 1 was in the army during a conflict Vietnam but was not sent by the army into a conflict War zone due to no fault of my own. I believe that any Soldier who was sent into Battle is deserving of Federal Job hiring preference programs and i think the via program is Good for those veterans. But i strongly believe that this Law is badly written and is discriminatory. Public Law 102-16 should be rewritten and eligibility clause b should be rescinded if those veterans who served on Active duty prior to May 7, 1975, Are going to be disqualified if they did not serve within a War zone.
