A staff sergeants sergeants first class master sergeants and first sergeants can extent their enlistments for up to 13 months to move stateside before their  Man what a Surprise i thought. Many senior cos Are being forced to retire at port from overseas bases As a result of the newest High year of tenure program. Certainly after 20 or More years of moving from base to base Many senior cos never made a hard decision on what and where to retire. Many senior cos planned their retirement by the old High year of tenure program. As a result Many senior cos came overseas expecting to serve their tour of duty and pcs permanent change of station Back to the Usa. The new High year of tenure has a significant Impact on retirement for those not allowed to pcs Back to the Usa. On the other hand those senior cos already in the Usa have the Opportunity to use the remainder of their enlistment to prepare properly for the transition to civilian employment.
