For me it took Only a thanksgiving dinner to see the Light. My friends and i All being single soldiers chose to cat the thanksgiving dinner offered at the 6th area support group dining facility on Robinson Barracks. 1 Rode by the dining facility Early in the Day to Check the hours of operation for thanksgiving. There were no special hours posted so i assumed that they were open the Normal times for holidays weekends. Unaware that there was indeed a special Holiday schedule we arrived about 10 minutes later than their hours permitted. We were told at the door we were too late but Chi. Armstrong stepped in. He said that he would take care of it and led us to the serving line. He asked the Cooks working if there was any leftover food we could Cooks went into the Kitchen and brought out what was available for us to cat. These soldiers have families and friends that they would like to spend the holidays with just like the rest of us but they worked generously past their hours to provide us an excellent Holiday meal. Even after we were seated the staff of the dining facility repeatedly came to our table offering us pies nuts shrimp cocktail and other goodies. In my four years in the army 1 have never seen such courteous Ness and friendliness exhibited in a dining facility. So hats off to the staff of the 6th area support group dining facility and thanks for making thanksgiving great. A spec. Keith j. Delia Stuttgart Germany . Our whole school is going to be disrupted and for what reason because there Are 18 to 19 kids to one teacher Are or. Stremple or or. Blackstead worried our children might get a better education because there Are not As Many kids in a classroom or Are they just out to save Money i know that a lot of army bases in Germany Are closing but that a not True of Baum older. We have lost one unit thus far and had it replaced by another. They Are pulling 31/ teaching slots and our big move in time is coming up in january and february. Is Dodds going to be As Quick to hire Back those teachers if our student population goes Back up 1 wish or. Blackstead and or. Stremple had been to our last Sac school advisory committee meeting to look children in the face and Tell them Why they have to lose a teacher and Why other classes have to be broken up to accommodate the teacher layoffs. I am All for saving Money but not when it stresses our children. The children have had enough to Deal with what with the War last year and now to lose teachers in the Middle of the school year. Of yes. A lot of thought went into what was Best for our students. If you have to make a Cut in teachers do it at the end of the school year please. A Martha Smalley Baum older Germany Quinn est deserve Bowel i recently resumed from a visit to the Usa. While there i bought some clothing from a nearby Exchange. One item i bought that really upset me when i realized it was a Levi shirt that was made in Myanmar Burma. Burma a record of human rights Viola letters to the editor tons is As bad As anywhere in the world. Volumes of these violations have been recorded and reported and if All was known Many More volumes could be written. In the most recent incident the military regime ignored the results of the 1989 election and placed the opposition Leader under House arrest where she remains. Now the High schools and universities Are closed to put Down any student support for democracy. I was stationed in Rangoon for Over two years in the mid 60s. It was bad enough then but since then the situation has worsened for All burmese except of course for the military. This Levi shirt that i purchased in the Exchange was made for Levi in a burmese military owned and operated factory a probably one that was nationalized . Stolen in 1962. The workers in this factory do not Benefit from this work As All the proceeds go to corrupt military officers and All arc corrupt there. I do not think that cafes should buy products made in Burma or any other such regime. They should not accept from any suppliers items from these countries even if offered at the cheapest Price. Levis Are not the most economical products on the . Market. If Levi won t willingly Boycott burmese products then i think cafes customers should Boycott Levi products. A Charles e.
