Paul Tsongas 22 percent. The Survey included a question to 334 Likely democratic voters on what kind of candidate the democratic party should choose to run against Bush. The councils 10th annual status report on minorities in higher education showed that minority enrolment at colleges and universities increased 10 percent Between 1988 and 1990, compared with a 5.1 percent increase in total enrolment. Overall minorities showed the largest gains at four year institutions compared with two year Community colleges. When broken Down by race however the study showed that the gains were Small for Blacks and his panics but substantial for asians. After a decline minorities began to return to social science posting a 19 percent increase in bachelors de Grees from 1987 to 1989. The figures indicated moderate gains for Blacks and Large increases for hispanics and asian americans hispanic men registered a 19,9 percent increase and hispanic women a 32.1 percent increase in social science degrees asian americans had gains of 35.7 percent in social sciences. Social science degrees for Blacks increased 9.4 percent. However Blacks received 40.8 percent fewer social science degrees from 1976 to 1989. As a group minorities also posted the following gains 2.1 percent in education 4.7 percent in the health professions 5.7 percent in biological and life sciences 11 percent in business and 18.9 percent in social sciences. The rate for White graduates increased 5 percent to 39.4 percent during the same period while hispanics at 29 percent showed Little Progress since 1985. Asian americans showed an 11.7 percent increase from 1988 to 1990, and attendance by american indians grew by 10.8 percent. Between 1979-1989, the total number of full time employees in higher education increased by 20.8 percent from 1.5 million to 1.8 million. In 1979, 17.7 percent of such employees were minorities 10 years later 20.3 percent were  lands safely in Detroit suburb Warren Mich.
