Dors is a resume registry and referral system developed to provide employers easy Access to service members their spouses and some government personnel who Are seeking civilian employment according to Paula Davis Deputy director of the Pentagon a transition office. One part of the defense departments operation transition programs Dors allows those who Are leaving the military to input their resumes into a computerized data base. The system then matches these resumes with employers who have a Job opening. Just started less than two months ago Dors already has about 400 employers signed up for the program. It is continuing to grow by an average of 50 employers a week As More businesses find out about the program Davis said. About 85 percent of the military in the registry Are enlisted service members and the other 15 percent Are officers she said. The program is in place overseas but Davis acknowledged that it might be More difficult for employers to get in touch with service members based outside the United states. People can Start using Dors up to three months before they separate from the service and can update their re sums every three months after that. Davis advised updating the information just before separating to reflect the service members new address. In addition to Dors the Pentagon a operation transition team is also experimenting with an electronic bulletin Board that will run Job ads. Once registered for Dors employers will also be eligible to place two week or six month Job ads on the bulletin Board. The ads would then be available the next business Day to people at some 350 military installations including nine countries overseas where americans Are based.
