Advertising Tel fax 06155-601412 Sale handled poorly my wife and i recently attended a furniture Sale sponsored by the demo defense re utilization and marketing office in Munich although the aces defense re utilization and marketing office in Munich although the prices and Quality were exceptional or Mon a handling of this Sale was disgraceful. The first problem was that the Sale was scheduled to Start on a thursday morning. All of Usa eur knows that thursday morning is dedicated to a a sergeants time at noon when the Soldier is finally Able to shop the majority of the furniture has been bought by local nationals. Second the Sale was a adm the demo official said this was for the convenience of the local nationals. I think it is great that we Are offering Good furniture and appliances at Low prices to the German Public but lets make sure we take care of our soldiers and the Community first. All soldiers and dependents should have the Opportunity to Purchase demo inventory in dollars before we open sales to the German Public. Give the soldiers one Day of exclusive shopping then open the Sale graciously to the Public. Lets take care of our soldiers and families. A Kris a. Rosado Munich Germany Why employ americans this is in response to the letter that asked Why employ germans our question is Why employ americans spouses have the tendency to rotate. As soon As we train dependents and they Start working on their own they quit because their military sponsors Are leaving. A lot of jobs require Contact with local National customers. Do you speak German we be been improving our English from year to year. Ten years ago you fill a Job with a dependent because the Dollar rate was 3.60 Marks and family members did no to need to work. Granted times Are hard for americans overseas but when was the last time you paid $2.50 for a gallon of Gas and 1,000 Marks in rent out of your pocket like the German workers do German workers also done to gel housing allowances. Imagine if tomorrow there were no in employees. Who would Cut the meat bake the bread drive the school bus sweep the streets dump the trash ick up and deliver the furniture and six. Appliances the Heater or the roof who s going to save a family and their House when it is on fire a Corine Arganbright a Petra Santiago a Iris Washington a Kathy Henson a Ute Dornhecker a Attmar Rosetter Hanau Germany Elvis Worth a stamp i would like to address the letter March 18 titled a Elvis does no to the writer asks Why put Elvis on a stamp i ask Why not it amazes me How some people done to understand the significant contribution made to the music Industry by Elvis Presley. How can this Man be considered a a bad influence the drugs that caused his death were prescription drugs not illegal drugs. I agree that Martin Luther King had great Impact on the civil rights movement. Elvis did the same for music. If the writer were to Contact the . Postal service he would be surprised to find that King has already been on a stamp. Also nationwide we be honoured King with Bridges monuments highways and a National Holiday. So lets not get carried away and say Elvis does no to belong on a stamp. Let s give the music Quot King his even if you did no to recommend him for the stamp there Are millions of americans that want it. If you done to want it done to buy it. A Cpl. The author stated simple facts a a a certain amount of jobs Are held for Black people because they Are Black and not necessarily because they Are better a a if we All want True Equality i believe we should not allow such exceptions referring to miss Black America Black clubs Black history month Etc which would be considered racist if a White person were to do i am hispanic. Since most of us Are categorized by the government As a White a we done to have the Benefit of the quotas. We have to compete with the Anglo saxons and the Blacks at the same time. Obviously affirmative action programs have put us at a disadvantage. Jobs and opportunities for advancement should be based on skills and productivity not on skin color. I have tremendous respect for the asian people because they encourage education and work very hard to enjoy the Good things in Fife instead of waiting for special programs to make a living. Can anybody imagine the consequences if every race and ethnic group in the United slates decided to have its own Beauty contest history month parades etc.? personally i done to need a hispanic history month to be proud of my race. If you done to know who you Are special magazines and celebrations will not cure the problem. A staff sgt. Carlos Sanchez Aschaffenbur Germany mailing addresses they can be found at the . Consulate m Berlin and at other . Embassies and libraries. A Katherine j. Brindley Berlin parable of the checks Reading about the congressional rubber Check scandal brings to mind the biblical parable of the talents Matthew 25. The parable tells the Story of How those who were faithful with a Little could be trusted with much. Be it Money or responsibility i think the opposite is also True. If certain members of Congress cannot manage something As Small As a personal checking account How can they manage the affairs of a nation a Jon a Preskett Wiesbaden Germany a a ballot Box accounting in the military servicemen and women Are required to be financially responsible. When they Are not they forfeit their privilege of cashing checks at the Exchange finance and other government facilities. They can be dismissed from the service with an other than honorable discharge. Should we As taxpayers and voters expect the same responsibility and accountability from our elected Public servants As those Public servants expect from us i think so. If elected officials from my District Are involved i expect immediate resignation. If they done to come the next election they wont get my support at the ballot Box. A Geoffrey l. Chase Worms Germany a done to share excess books my letter is in reference to the excess books teaching aides and school supplies left from base closures. In addition our entire Post Library is scheduled for removal. Rumor has it that All these items will be sent to our East German neighbors. I too am upset that we Are not putting them on a military Airlift come flight heading Home. We have inner City schools schools on Indian reservations and schools in Small towns that would Benefit greatly from these supplies. We have been hearing for years How inferior the education system is in the United states a How it is failing our children and that in comparison to other countries we Are not up to we need to find out who makes these decisions regarding where these things Are being sent. We paid for these supplies with our tax dollars. We need to speak out and fight for our own. A Linda Sweeney Karlstedt Germany make bouncers pay who even thought of not charging members of Congress when their checks bounced. Just because someone is voted into Public office does not mean that he or she should be any less responsible for his or her actions. If anything such people should be held More accountable because they chose Public service and they Are representing a vast number of people. 1 would like to see members of Congress pay $25 for every Check they bounced and have the funds directed to our National debt. I strongly urge concerned voters to write to their representatives in Congress on this Issue. Let them know How you feel.
