Army Europe on wednesday released a list of 55 additional units that will withdraw from Europe or have left already. Most will inactivate or deactivate. Only 13 of the units included in wednesdays announcement will Transfer to locations in the a United states. The 55 units most of which Are in Germany have a total authorized strength of 7,215. But Hilde Patton of the commands Public affairs office said Many of the units arc not at full strength. The bulk of the units Are Field artillery groups and detachments. The list also includes ordnance brigades and companies military police companies a combat support Hospital and other units. The list includes units stationed in Germany Greece Italy the Netherlands and Turkey. Two Turkey units both Field artillery detachments left in april. Patton said the command did not announce the withdrawal of those units until now because a approval through the Levels of command often delays a Public she said the withdrawal of those units was linked to the overseas Basc closure announcement made last week. Wednesdays announcement brings to l15,589 the number of positions affected by withdrawal of army units from Europe. Patton said further withdrawal announcements will be made. She provided no other details about which army units would leave. Soldiers assigned to units scheduled for relocation to the United states will remain in those units. Soldiers in units not designated for moves to the United states will Transfer to other units Patton said. First show in 15 years to take off at Torrejon by j.
