Dear Ann Landers i just watched my dad die from lung cancer after smoking cigarettes for 50 years. My Mother and i watched him take his last breath and thanked god that he was no longer suffering. Two years ago he was in intensive care for three weeks hooked up to machines and oxygen to keep him alive after the surgery which removed half of one lung. And yet he continued to smoke. A  Mother and i saw him dwindle Down to nothing but skin and Bones while the cancerous tutors in his Chest grew larger each Day. My father will never see his Only granddaughter graduate this year. Hell never see his grandchildren get married and have children of their own. He wont be Able to share his retirement years with his wife and reap the rewards of working All those years. He wanted to quit smoking but this terrible addictive habit of 50 years drove him to choose a so called pleasure Over precious years of life. I beg of everyone especially you teen agers if you done to smoke please please done to Start. It is a lot easier not to Start a habit than it is to break it. And if you do smoke Stop now if not for yourself do it for those who love you and will miss you when you die.
