Gay Domino effect i support the ban on homosexuals in the military and fear that lifting it would initiate a Domino effect that would ultimately wreck the most capable military Force in the argue that relationships Between consenting adults Are private affairs As Long As no one is harmed. Homosexuals should be capable of separating their Pri vate lives from their professional lives. Unfortunately promiscuity is widely prevalent in homosexual lifestyles. If homosexuality is condoned in this society and its armed Force show Canone argue against the acceptance of fornication fraternization or even adultery if homosexuals Are allowed to serve then Why not transvestites transsexuals polygamists and drug abusers ultimately there will be no justification for denying base housing to those who practice alternate the Impact on the traditional and time proven family unit will be catastrophic for those who choose to continue their Mili tary a. Owe you my life to the staff at the 130th station Hospi Tal in Heidelberg thanks i literally owe you my life and i Hope this wakes up some of the sleepers out there so they might get out and give the blood so desperately needed by the military. Because of internal bleeding i had lost two thirds of my blood. It took the Excel Lent emergency room personnel six hours to stabilize me enough to deliver me to the intensive care owe everyone in the ice a debt of gratitude that i la never be Able to repay nurses and medics alike were All super. I owe a special debt to or. Schachter for racking his brains to try to keep me Hospital chaplain maj Robertson never failed to come by and listen to my ravings which they surely must have been since my attention Span at that time was about 10 seconds. I also owe a huge debt to a group i will never see the ones who gave their blood that i might live. If anyone out there is capable of giving blood please do so. It Only takes a few minutes of you time and it is painless. It will also give you the satisfaction of knowing that you have helped someone even if you never meet him or Hospital staff at Heidelberg is made up of True professionals they know of no other f. Potoski ecu Hofton Germany too much negative news 1 have often debated about whether to join in the fray of the editorial pages. Repercussions Are known to occur to some members portraying a negative View. But after a year in Europe i thought i would comment on the apparent surplus of negative depressing stories appearing in the stars and am concerned about the High number of articles on violence and the relatively Low number of articles on Good deeds or people helping people published in your newspaper. Two thoughts come to mind As to Why there Are More stories about violence than Good will. The Media not just your newspaper have a morbid fascination with violence or there Are More violent acts occurring in the world than acts of Good will. I think not. There Are numerous places to look for people helping one t get me wrong about the Content of the stars and stripes. There have been some Goodwill articles published. The Story about the Navy diver in the Adriatic or the military Mission in Somalia come to mind quickly. But notice the stories about Somalia quickly turned again to violence and who killed whom. Why not keep the focus on the primary Mission making sure the food gets to the people and the people Are being fed lots keep reporting in a positive stories about who killed whom who has fallen on hard times who cheated whom etc., Are very distressing and do not reflect the american people As a whole. I Don t mean to increase the amount of propaganda we feed to our Young troops they get enough As it is. While i am not advocating censorship in any form i feel we ought to read a fair mixture of the Good and the bad. A realistic mixture. A prominent newspaper has for its motto All the news that s fit to you could apply that motto to your newspaper and provide your customers with a More realistic View of the pulse of America. g. Petridis Ramst Zinab Germany catch-22 snares nurse i am very disappointed and disillusioned by the . Military system. Being a British citizen married to a . Military member for six years educated As a nurse in England and qualified As a registered nurse in new York state i feel i am More than qualified to work for the department of defense. But since my husband and i have been stationed at Ramstein a for the past six months i have met with red tape about rules and regulations of the various departments concerning employment As a registered nurse. I was told i am considered Toal a. Tonal and not eligible to apply United states nursing slots and i wok also told by the German employment office that i am not considered a True local National As i have not had a German Educa Tion and hence am not eligible to apply for local National slots if there were any. I am caught in this "catch-22" and feel that although 1 am considered a . Mili tary dependent in All other senses having an id card Green card and paying . Taxes am discriminated against because of rules and regulations and my passport. 1 know 1 am not the Only one in a position like this to me it is a shameful waste of professional resources. I was eligible for the civil list to work for the state of new York but not for military installations some thing does not seem right to me. Catherine Heimdale Ramstein a Germany what 1 am talking about is Plain old recycling. The containers Are never full and i never anybody recycling in the american housing area. Where arc All those Earth Loving making a big Deal of Earth Day americans hey it s our world and we Only have one. It makes me sad and furious. Another big Deal is having the car engine running while parked shopping warming up the motor there s an endless list. What Are those people thinking if any thing have they Ever heard of the Hole sin the Ozone layer Don t we love the world too much to want to destroy it let s think and not for get that our children will have to live without i Don care attitude As a result. You can make a difference do it. Dion i id Markle Babenhausen stick with Low no loads after Reading about a letter writer s financial mis guidance in becoming involved in a 50 percent front end loaded Mutual fund i Felt compelled to write. I recently met with an investment plan Ner Type person from spa an Organ Ezaion that has offices at nearly every Mil itary installation who gave a very convincing argument regarding the Bene fits of a Mutual fund in which so percent of your first year s investment is lost to sales charges. He emphasized that people in these types of plans do not tend to shift their Money from fund to fund thus increasing the stability of the fund naturally since once you be invested that much you re basically stuck. Depending upon the performance of the fund it could take three to five years to break even whereas if you invested in a no Load fund you would be in the Posi Tive Range rather than at the break even Point. In asking Many people who Are knowledgeable about investing i have yet to be advised to invest in any fund that would charge such a High front end Load. If someone encounters a broker who tries to push such a fund the reason is most Likely that the broker will get a commis Sion up front. In reviewing lists of Mutual fund performance i was unable to find any to performers that were other than Low Load or no Load Type. Copt. Drew e.
