On dec. 1, Mclane spent $19.5 million on a four year Deal with Doug Drabek two Days later he agreed to a $17 Mil lion four year contract with Greg swin Dell. And on monday he committed $32.3 million for three players at the no Claus of his team third baseman Ken Caminiti second baseman Craig Biggio and Center fielder Steve Finley. Biggio is guaranteed $11 million while baseball signings Caminiti is guaranteed $10.9 million and Finley $10.4 million. Five other players agreed to one year deals monday leaving 41 remaining in arbitration. Outfielder Larry Walker and Montreal settled at $3 million More than triple his $975,000 salary last season. Right hander Ramon Martinez and the los Angeles dodgers agreed at$1,775,000, More than double his 1992 salary of $725,000. Right hander John Burkett and the san Francisco giants agreed at $1.55 million four times his $375,000 salary last season. Catcher Greg Olson and the Atlanta braves agreed at $925,000, More than double his 1992 salary of $350,000. Right hander Cris Carpenter and the Florida marlins agreed at $725,000, four times his $170,000 salary last year. Among free agents third baseman Craig Worthington agreed to a minor league contract with the Chicago cubs. Worthington hit .167 in nine games for the Cleveland indians last season. Also monday was the final Day for players to object to their allocation for collusion damages for 1986 and 1987. Hearings on objections will be held in april and May before arbitrator Thomas Roberts. The three astros each received $600,000 signing bonuses. Biggio 27, will get $2.85 million this season $3.15 Mil lion in 1994 and $4.4 million in 1995. Caminiti 29, will earn yearly salaries of $2.95 million $3 million and $4.35 Mil lion. Finley 27, will get salaries of $2.7 million $2.85 million and $4.25 million. Biggio hit .277 last season arid drove in 39 runs. Caminiti led the astros with a.294 average and drove in 62 runs. Finley obtained in a Trade with Balti More in 1991, hit .292 and drove in 55 runs. Accordingly the executive Council agrees that the suspension and compliance with this agreement shall not be deemed a Transfer of control interest in the club under the major league  Stcin Brenner agreed to resign and in order to regain control he must be approved by other team owners after he is eligible for reinstatement on March 1. Schott agreed last wednesday to accept a one year suspension beginning March 1 because of slurs she made against against Blacks jews and japanese. The suspension will end nov. 1 if she complies with the executive Council s decision which says she must attend multicultural training programs. Until May 1, 1993, mrs. Schott s presence in riverfront stadium during a baseball game shall be limited to the executive suite on the Mezzanine level the agreement states. After such period she May be present in the Public areas of the stadium Only and May not enter the club House offices Field level owners Box or its general Vicinity or press Box at riverfront stadium or the reds Spring training facility or any other area not generally open to the Public at either location other than the same executive suite used prior to May 1, without the prior approval of the commissioner or executive coun cil Ana she May not enter the clubhouse offices oppress Box at any other major league  the agreement also contains the same prohibition against Contact with baseball officials that was placed on Steinbrunner. Mrs. Schott May not associate or communicate with any major league club including the Cincinnati reds or its personnel or any person haying business or Finan Cial dealings with the Cincinnati reds in connection with any matter involving the Cincinnati reds or base Ball the agreement says. However it contains new language saying this docs not bar mrs. Schott from engaging in Normal social  in addition the paragraphs giving her permission to become involved in broadcasting and lease arrange ments insert the word club which appears to prohibit her from involvement in National contracts. Stein Brenner s agreement did not have that  lawyer familiar with the agreement speaking on the condition of anonymity said the provision allowing her involvement in non player expenditures above $500,000 came about after Schott s Side asked what reds owner Marge Schott. It s even harder to believe that Wardlow is a color commentator for radio broadcasts of baseball games. Just listen once and you la be absolutely amazed said Jim Lucas who has been broadcasting baseball games with Wardlow since their College Days. I mean he s so  Wardlow s also wind. But this Spring Wardlow and Lucas will be the voices of the new Britain red sox the class a affiliate of the Boston red sox on Bristol radio station vvu1s. The 29-year-old Wardlow Blind since birth had dreamed of becoming a baseball announcer since College. It was never sympathy 1 was looking fur it was the Chance to do the ultimate Job Wardlow said. And now i be got the ultimate  Wardlow s dream began in 1983, when he met Lucas at Glassboro state College. In new Jersey. Wardlow said he decided he wanted to work with Lucas after hear ing him announce baseball on the College radio station. I said Jim Are you up for a Challenge would you work with a Blind person and he said yes Wardlow recalled. And that was the most important yes 1 had heard because it opened up a whole new world for  Wardlow and Lucas did a few games for the College station before , from 1984 to 1989, they practice by broadcasting major league games into a tape recorder from their stadium scats. They got their first break when Mik Veeck son of Well known baseball pro Moter Bill Veeck hired them in 1990 to announce for his Miami Miracle of the Florida state league. We be been doing this for 10 years to Gether the 30-year-old Lucas said. We know each other s style. We know each other s sense of  Lucas and Wardlow moved to new Brit Ain in november with Chuck Manka for Mer Media director for the Miracle to be come familiar with the Britson and sell advertising spots for the games. To prepare for the games Wardlow has been relying on Lucas and Manka who read updated statistics and stories to Wardlow or into a tape recorder. Preparation. He s the stats the memory and the More romantic Side of the game. That s what makes us  during the games the two have devel oped a rhythm to keep things going smoothly. After Lucas gives the play by play Wardlow has 12 seconds for commentary. But just in Case Wardlow gets carried away with one of his Many stories they have a Little trick to keep listeners in formed. When the pitch is coming and i Don t want to interrupt Don Lucas said i can put my Mike in Cue and Tell Hirn in his left ear without going on the air what s happening.". So once in while Wardlow gets to Call the action. Wardlow said his mental Pic Ture of baseball consists of the crack of the Bat the Roar of the crowd and the smell of the hot dogs and the  like most minor league players Lucas and Wardlow dream Ozone Day making it to the big leagues. It s out there somewhere Ward Low said. That s our ultimate
