Retirees Choice the writer of a Retiree life overseas july 12 in response to a whining retirees june 14 apparently has not been Reading the same stars and stripes i have read Over the past few months. As a matter of fact if he had been an objective Reader he would have noticed that on the same Day a whining retirees was printed just above the letter was a retirees spouse complaining about commissary privileges. A couple of Days before that a Retiree complained about the Cost of tuition in the department of defense dependents schools system. It seems the writer conveniently put his blinders on to read and inaccurately comment on the letter which hit Home. The writer argues that retirees do not complain about the benefits they receive overseas because they were told while on Active duty what those benefits would be. This appears to me to be precisely what the writer of a a whining was talking about. The Retiree who elects to retire overseas makes that Choice voluntarily. The Bottom line is that the Retiree finds living overseas preferable to living in the United states. Where one chooses to live is every citizens right including retirees. However As the writer of a a whining commented the person making this Choice should not complain that things overseas Are not As they would have been if he or she had retired in the United states. Undoubtedly the writer of a whining has had some experience dealing with retirees or based his observations on letters to the editor from retirees. I have nothing against retirees appreciate whatever they have sacrificed to earn the title of Retiree and find it laudable that they Volunteer for Community service. However some of them must learn that a Retiree s rank and the fact that they elected to retire overseas do not entitle them to special treatment. And for an sex military spouse to say we receive free housing utilities and medical care is ridiculous.
