Teo Fabi s car had stalled at that Point and was off the course with a Tow truck blocking part of the racing surface. Tracy s brakes apparent unset by locked when he tried to slow. So did the brakes on Gordon s car which Slid sideways allowing Tracy to get past him along the inside of the track. Gordon quickly re covered and got Back into the racing line in front of Unser. I was t planning on passing him but he locked up his brakes and almost Slid off the track. What am i supposed to do he slipped wide Tracy said. Tracy held the Lead until he made a regular pit Stop on the 57th Lap when Unser took first place. Unser pitted one Lap later and Tracy made his penalty Stop at the same time allowing Unser to maintain about a 7-second margin. Unser won by1.6 seconds. Roger Penske owner of the cars driven by Unser Tracy and third place finisher Emerson Fittipaldi said it was a Tough Call on Paul but a Good Day Overall As his cars finished 1-2-3 forthe third time this year.
