   European Stars and Stripes (Newspaper) - November 24, 1994, Darmstadt, Hesse                                Thursday november 24, 1994 Man co  Bureau Rota Spain a former civilian employee of the military sea lift Abmd was found guilty last week of raping a fellow merchant Seaman on Board the Navy sup ply ship Saturn while the ship was docked at naval station Rota a Navy news re lease said tuesday. Event Williams was convicted nov. 18 in . District court in Charleston  is expected to be sentenced in about three months. The victim a female civilian employee on the vessel testified that Williams 31, entered her unlocked stateroom and raped her in the Early morning hours of the stars and stripes Page 3 of rape on Navy ship new year s Day 1994.the 31-year-old woman said she had been drinking with friends during new year s eve celebrations in Rota the night before but had not agreed to have sex with Williams. The woman testified that she woke to find Williams hovering Over her. According to the Charleston Post and courier Williams who did not take the stand had said the merchant Seaman agreed to have sex with him after they had returned to the ship. The woman reported the incident to senior officers on the Saturn who referred the Case to the naval criminal investigative service in Rota. Acis agent Tony Cox said Williams gave him two different accounts of the incident. He said that during the last inter View Williams said i was very intoxicated. Blincoe pointed out there have been similar assault cases in  the last two years there have been three sexual assault cases at naval station Rota where victims left their door unlocked allowing the suspects to gain entry to the victim Blincoe said. For example All army Post medical and dental clinics in Europe will be closed today for the thanksgiving Holiday and Friday for a command training Holiday. Officials at the european health and dental services support area Headquarters in Lan Stuhl Germany said wednesday that no outpatient clinic appointments Are being made for either Day. Emergency rooms at the Lan Stuhl army regional medical Center and at the army Hospi tals in Heidelberg and Wiir Burg will be open. Army medical officials said people needing emergency treatment in communities where services Are closed should use Host nation medical facilities. Regular serv ices resume monday.
